It was $200.00 and I didn't have to go to court. No point in fighting as I as in the wrong all the way. The cops ended up being really cool. They were detectives and don't usually pull people over for traffic violations. However he did use a mild form of entrapment as he kept riding my ass. Which is why I got mad and dropped the hammer. When I say riding my ass I mean 1 or 2 feet away on a an basically empty highway. It never dawned on me it was a cop it was black and I was thinking Mercury Maurader all the way. I thought you want some come get some. Now I do not suggest you race on the street it is dangerous and foolish but the dark side of me won out that day. There was no other cars around either on an open strait part of the highway. It could have been worse, as they could have taken The "BadMav" that day and threw me in jail. I think the fact they were detectives, liked my car and commented it was really fast, and my wife was with me, they showed me some mercy. Consequentley I have parked the mav and will very rarely drive it as I have a couple of tickets on my record. One will fall of this later this year and I will start driving again. That is if it is in one piece as I am gearing up for a major restomod,or at least my facsimile of a restomod. I hope to at least keep par with what some of the members have created and done here. I have a few unique ideas still yet. The skill ,dedication, and imagination showed on this site by all if you has humbled me ten times over. Thank you.

If it was one of the worst cars built, how come there are so many left, despite the fact that they never were really "collectable"and most were used up and tossed? And the little sixes and 2barrel 302's weren't really powerful, but delivered decent power & economy for the day,and were easy to work on and tough as nails. As far as rust, can't argue with that one,but Falcons,Fairlanes and other unibodies were just as "flimsy".As far as ugly, well that's just one persons opinion.I think '65-68 Mustang coupes look dorky,I'd rather have a Falcon & be a dork for half price, but that's JMO.'Course if I believed everything I read,I'd be wheelin' a Honda Civic or an LS1 chevy, because that's what the automotive media would have us to believe "that's where it's at".It's fun to read that stuff, but I usually don't buy into much of it.Don't be a "sheeple".

I've always been partial to the "Fastbacks" or 'Sports Roof' Mustangs...

I'm not much of a fan for the 64 1/2 -66 Mustang coupes either, but the 67-68's coupes are cool.

But yeah, nothing beats a fastback, that's why my first car was a Maverick, and my second was a 70 Mach-1

My favorite early Mustang body style is the 67-68 fastback, but there is a good reason I have soft spot for 67-68 coupes........

Alot of people look down on Mavericks where i live

I have two mavericks and wouldnt mind having another, but i know i get alot of harrasment because of my cars. Its an awsome idea to put 4.11s in a 302 c4 mustang but to do it in a 302 c4 maverick is a joke to them. But guess what, im rolling in style cause i got the only mavericks around for miles. I think there just mad cause everyone checks out my cars when we go some where and there is 10 cars just like theres a 1/2 mile down the street.

Here's something to consider too, many cars built in the 70 , 60's etc are considered inferior to todays standards, Duh, but I did read through that book and never saw mention of the Chevy Pick-ups 73 through what 87? When they went to new Design, heck those trucks religiously rusted out OVER the fender wells, the cat catch phrase used to be " Nothing Rusts Like a Checvy Truck". And speaking of '70's American manufacturing, My best friend in High School had an older brother who bought a new Chevy from the Factory and 2 or 3 years later, had to remove a front fender.. yes to fix rust, guess what they found manufactured into the Truck... A beer can.. The 70's American Cars got their a_ _'s handed to them for 2 reasons Fuel economy and Piss poor quality. Cars like Maverick and Pinto kept Ford on the road when High Gas prices hit. And I didn't see anything about 70's Subarus, Toyotas, Datsuns, Hondas, you want to talk about cheap interiors, and how about the early 80's accords. Talk about rust buckets. My mother had a '78 Subaru Wagon, the mechanicals were iron, but the
floor rusted all the way through by 1984, Mom held that car together with pop rivets and scrap sheet metal. SO rust, everyone had it not just Mav's ever see a 70's Subaru? talk about Butt ugly! Chevette, Gremlin, Citation, Renault Fuego? God the list goes on and on Mav's have all the popular styling ques of it's era long hood Fast Back, Spartan, and easy to drive. ( Steps off the soap box. goes to Work)

You have a cooler head than I do.

I was on my way back from a Christmas thing with the inlaws, goin about 55-60 out in the woods, about 9pm, no traffic. Somebody flew up on me, riding right on my tail for about a mile with the lights on high beam. I slowed to about 40, guy stayed right there. Got up to about 65, stayed right there. Floored it, up to about 75-80, he's right on my tail, I can't see worth a crap. We topped the hill, I saw it was clear and I laid into the brakes hard.

He whipped around and hit the blue lights.

If he'd have stopped me, I'd have been arrested for assaulting an officer, and I don't think it would be over until I had his badge mounted on my wall.

Definately a bad apple, later found out I know the guy.
