This is very disturbing. 17 sets of headers and none clear... Frank, do you think one or more of these sets would work with the taller deck 351w? Not to mention raised exhaust port heads?
Not sure. I only know of Mavman building a set from scratch, but that was for when the car had towers. He is running over the frame headers now, but his is the only MII swap that I have seen header documentation on. Well, besides what you are posting, and what RASelkirk posted. If I ever get that far, I'll post up what works/doesn't work on a stock and raised port 351w engine :bananaman
this is the problem...not all swaps are the same... we would have to do subtopics for each build....302/351/460 and the different heads on each engine...some shave the towers/some don't. so when someone asks about my setup and a 351... i can only say what i did with what i used.:Handshake
Are you moving your engine (mounts) around? Might it be possible to fit some of these headers if the motor was raised or moved back some? I was real lucky and got a perfect fit the first time. My concern was the steering shaft, and the BBK 1569's were ideal for that... Russ
No doubt. I appreciate the work and research you are doing, dont get me wrong. Its all valuable information for everyone, and not all of us can spare the time or funds to try so many different sets of headers. All I meant was, were any of them close to fitting to the point that 1/4" higher and they might go, or 1/2" back and they would clear etc. Thats kinda what I was getting at.
what ...year is your motor and what did it come out of...what transmission do you have... this info. would be in the...subtopics also. ...Frank...
FLASH: a guy called me a few minutes ago...he has a set of coated headers/new in the box that want fit a mustang w/5.o. he said they are close but the exhaust would have to be changed from the stock location. i am going to ride up and take a look....$125 ...Frank...:Handshake

My swap will not apply to anyone here as I'm using an LS-1 motor and 200R4 (auto OD) trans. That said, those headers will clear the steering shaft which was my concern. If anyone wants (or cares), I can measure the width of the motor between the exhaust surfaces. Russ
Crap! I'm supposed to be learning? If I would have known learning was involved, I never would have started down this road. There is alot of good info in here I think, and once you find that migical set for yours, there will be even more good info. Carry on.
well...set #18 was a...No-Go. I took back set #17 and then went to...Baby Janes... for lunch.. left there and went back to Summit. the...store manager...and i went through the books again and found 2 sets that i haven't looked at. he pulled them and sets...#19/#20...wouldn't work either. then we came upon as set that looked good on the 'puter screen.. only thing...none-in-stock...i told him to order them (Ohio) and i wanted them overnight...so he said he would pay the shipping...overnight $25 and Sat. delivery $25. so set #21 should be at my door tomorrow... i am also talking to a guy that said he could make me a set... he is getting me a price...Stainless Steel... ...and everyone thought the frontend was the hard part... ...Frank...I(W)LMH
