Do you think I am crazy for this repair method?

I started this thread. This is what I ended up doing. I have one fender that is great. One fender was previously welded with sheetmetal that had a few holes in it some big, some small. I de-rusted the area to shiny metal. I used silver solder and easily filled the small holes after fluxing the area. The bigger holes got JB Weld putty which dried as hard as a rock and sands nicely. You think this may work?

JB weld is epoxy and it should bond well enough to the clean steel to stay in place. It is brittle and if the hole is larger than 1/2 inch I would recommend the use of a piece of metal or plastic screen from the back side to reinforce the epoxy repair.

I recommend cleaning metal on both sides and using a mig machine that is the best way to fill and have it last. However, the silver solder will work but the jb weld I don't think is such a good idea.
