The originals were not made with a dot matrix printer ... They appear to have been made with an old IBM type of printer called a BAND Printer. It is a high speed formfeed printer that utilizes the track paper that Ford used for invoices and window stockers. A large metal band spins at high speed and the printer strikes the band from behind to imprint the letters on the paper. They are generally connected to mainframe computers. I used to work for IBM up in NY and they had many of these that we used to print checks, invoices, bills, etc .... they print looks identical.

Now since the printers were going so fast the print is not very sharp but is easily reabable ... we are talking 1960's technology here. There was a large inked ribbon between the band the paper so depending on the qaulity of the ribbin the letters could be lighter, darker, etc ...

To reproduce this effect the Andale Mono Font size 16 that I have on my Mac is exactly the same as the Window Sticker. On the graphic above only the list of options was done by me ... All of the prices and dealer information on the bottom was done by Marti's Reports printer. I scanned the window sticker into Photoshop.

To get a Band Printer effect I applied a Gaussian Blur to the lettering in Photoshop. I have not printed one out yet but it looks pretty good to me.

A DAISY WHEEL printer could reproduce the type ...

    IBM print bands ...

I have seen quite a bit of 71 documentation that doesn't list a 302 option ... I think Ford added the 302 option to the Maverick either right before or right after the 71 Models started being built ... so some documentation was printed before it was available.

    Hey Dan,

Nice Job.....the 302 was not available as an option until Dec and the price was included in the base price of the car. My original window sticker lists it as $2523. Some other options are Hi Back Bucket seats $101, Automatic Transmision $183, Power Steering $95, Floor shift $25, AM Radio $61, HD Suspension $12, D70 Wide Oval Tires $88, and Transportation $121. These are June 71 prices.

    Ralph

Thanks Ralph! So does your sticker show Sport Sedan 8 cylinder instead of Sport Sedan 6 cylinder? Also was High spelled Hi for the buckets?

It is listed as "Maverick Grabber 2 Door Sport Sedan 8 Cylinder" and the buckets are listed as "High Back Bucket Seats". I am headed out in a few minutes but I will try to scan my original for you later this afternoon.

OK ... Thanks for the input ... I updated the sticker at the top of the thread with the latest and greatest changes including pricing .... :) You may have to refresh your cache or browser to see it ... Now my Grabber reflects exactly how I would have ordered itand how it is configured today ... if all those options were available on a 71 Grabber anyways ...

If anyone has the correct Window Sticker to scan we can probably work something out if you want one created or reproduced .... Dan

Just don't rat me out to FoMoCo!

I may be a year or two off, but in 1971, the only thing loaded about Dan might have been his diaper.:rofl2:
