I have heard that the build sheets were printed so that anyone could read it, see where it says LAG....and go over and grab a spring that says LAG and put it on that car. On the early cars....it was done by color....where the build sheet might say GRGRGR for a shock or a spring.....and theat meant go grab a green marked spring or shock. They wanted to make it as SIMPLE as possible so that anybody of any intellectual level could work the assembly line.
I was going to add this, but you already did My 74 had paint dabs on the wheels, I think Orange & Green, and the build sheet had OG in the "Wheels" section. (I think, I can't find the damn thing)
The final result ... I ended up just formatting the text to print out on a reproduction Window Sticker from Osborne Reproductions ....
One way to get around the non original items such as the 4 speed, hurst shifter, and the Hooker headers would be list those as dealer instaled options. I have heard of a lot of cars that came with the headers in the trunk, something about liability issuses. Maybe you could list all the improvements as a dealer package, like Motion and Yenko did with chevys.
dmhines, Do you have that set up as a word document? I want to know how I can do something like that for the transmissions I build.
Nice job Dan! I was just looking at the Osbourne website. Is this product that you started with the DF0785 Ford Product Build Sheet? Thanks. John B
