It is Ultra7000 Competition Orange Basecoat and CC950 Clearcoat by Sherwin Williams(it is nicer paint than what is on the 'cuda actually...)
First time out at the track tonight, it ran a 12.60 at 105 straight off of the trailer. It is hooking up great and it has a lot more potential in it, it is definitely not being pushed to the limit. It ran between 12.60 and 12.80 the rest of the night, a little slower later as the gap between second and third became longer and longer. There will be a new valve body in its future tomorrow. I am very happy with its first time out, it is very streetable and fun. I'll have track pictures this weekend, but here is a mostly done picture(are they ever completely done?)
nice looking car. is the hood glass or just the cowl induction? 12. 60 is not bad for the first time out. i'm sure with a little more tuning you'll be in the low 12's. btw what tires are you running?
It is a fiberglass hood. The cowl induction fits a large carb, a 2inch spacer, a large air cleaner and we still have tons of room. We run 28 inch BF Goodrich drag radials. We really need a tall tire because it is severely overgeared for the close to stock 351C in it. We will be putting the new valve body in tonight for a race this weekend. We will have it at roundup but it won't be completely done, we still have quite a bit of engine compartment and interior detailing to do. I was pretty giddy last night, we of course have its first runs video taped, etc. This is the first Maverick I have had ready to race in 15 years. I have raced a '71 442 convert. the last couple years, but it is still not a Maverick. My project Maverick was just taking too long so this one is a nice street/strip car to fill the gap while I am working on my all out race car.
i'll be looking forward to seeing it at the roundup. good luck this weekend. i've got a race on the 22nd, but i think i'm going to drive something else as i plan on putting mine in the trailer and having everything packed to leave on the 23rd in the morning.good luck thiis weekend.
That 'Cuda is sweeeet. Grabber stripe looks great. I would have just had it painted-on though. That's how I'm gonna do mine (when I get a paint job)...
That's what I always did before the kits became so cheap. I have painted on 3 different sets. Never again...I would spend about 5-6 hours getting it all laid out and painted on plus materials. (time is money) Now for $60 and a couple hours it's done and way cleaner around the edges. I actually bought 2 extra sets for future use just in case these companies stop offering them.
Stripes look good....car looks good and 12.6's is really good for the first time out. Keep up the good work!
