when oil sits, it becomes acidic, and can ruin the metal. old oil is thicker and will not stick to the hot metal surfaces and will not fill all the little scratches in the block all this boils down to ALOT MORE engine friction with old oil, and could result in $1000 or more in repair costs. or spend $60 (or so). to replace the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, spark plug wires, cap rotor, and some gas treatment additive. this all of our suggestions. you will do what you want to do in the end, but changing the oil will NOT make an engine blow up it may go past your seals and smoke like crazy, but you can use a engine restorer or thicker oil. if the seals are too far gone, you will need a rebuild anyways, so it wont matter good luck
if i put fresh clean oil in my engine, dont start it and drain it back out it comes out black. is that normal? i had to replace a leaky plug today
if it's been sitting for a while you may have to change it a couple of times. you may not have gotten all the old stuff out and it dosen't take much to get the new stuff lookin dirty.
Is it normal for the oil to come out black? no, but it means that some of the old oil was still in the engine. put on a new filter, fill it with new oil and run it for a couple of hours. Drain it and replace the oil and filter again. Get as much of that crud out of there as you can.
