I would check the pump, sounds like the pump is not pumping.

Worse case put the old converter back in and check to see if it works. If it does then theres other problems.

Dont get frustrated, and try to take a break from it for awhile. To much and you will over think the issue. If you have to pull everything back out and redo it from start to finish. Maybe you over looked something in the excitement of the project.

Worst and best case is it will be a learning experience to re-do everything.

I'm leaning towards the pump. I will try to redo it and try the old converter. And I will rest from it. Thanks for all the help

if you pull the trans and converter out look at the converter. on the snout that goes into the trans there are two flat spots. these are what engages the pump in the trans. you can look in the front of the trans and see the tabs of the pump that engage these flat spots. when you put the converter in you line them up to make it easier to guarantee that you have the converter all the way in properly.

before you pull it all, you need to be able to get the 9-10 quarts of fluid in. if its not sucking the fluid in enough to where you can get that much in then most likely you have damaged the pump in the trans and will need to replace it.

I don't think it was your question. I got an email saying someone posted something bit it didn't show up so I replied anyways ha

Mrbroosky ( sorry about the spelling) said, "why would it pull in reverse if the pump wasn't working. did i not read that right. idle change wants to move in reverse. just asking ."

    That's what I replied to.
