Hi olerodder Sorry I took so long to reply I love your maverick what a beast. My Maverick is a prostreet car it has a 393 in it procomp heads and all forged internals about 500 hp on the motor of course I am a nitrous junkie and it has a direct port fogger system tapped into a victor jr intake with an 750 dominator carb it runs 10.50s on pump gas 150 shot and 10.30s on 100 octane. The rear end is a lincoln Versailles with 4.57 pro gears and 33 spline axles and it also has the Versailles front spindles and has 11 inch drilled and slotted rotors all 4 corners the front springs are moroso and the rear has leaf springs with caltracs . The tires are 10"x29" Hoosiers. The trans is a c-4. I am in the process of installing toploader 4 speed just to add some fun I am going to install 3.89 gears in the rear and up the nos to 250 with some race fuel it will be ready in march I will let you guys know how it does. Keep in touch I would love to see your car run take videos pictures etc.
toploader when you install the toploader are you going to make the mechanical clutch linkage work?? what make of clutch will you install..great looking car!!
yes i am going to use mechanical linkage The drivers I talked to that race 4 speeds say that mechanical linkage is much faster and more consistent than cable or hydraulic. I have an McLeod clutch and pressure plate .thanks for the nice comment on the car
393Mark, It's funny you are putting a top loader in your car, as they guy I bought the car from took out the top loader/McCloud Scattershield/Ram aluminum flywheel/clutch setup..............and put in a Powerglide. It looks like he had a mechanical linkage in the car (the car still has the clutch pedal in it) as the McClould shield is notched for the rod. Too bad we don't live closer as I am getting to old to use a stick anymore. The top loader has 1-3/8 imput and 31 spline output. Although this appears to be a big block configured top loader that casting numbers suggest it did not come behind a BBF. I will probably not get to the track until March of next year, but will post pictures when I do. I can't wait to stage the car, bring it to around 4800rpm and hit the transbarke button...........................
Yeh, driving my truck with the Maverick in two would probably only take a week and cost over $850 in gas lone. Staying in touch is certainly not an issue, as I'd like to see some pictures of your Maverick lifting those front tires off the ground. Oh yes, if I was going to trailer the Maverick that far I'd have to buy an enclosed trailer.............................
