sweet Jamie. Tony had mentioned you were working on these, but I didn't put two and two together until I saw this thread. Unbelievable timing on your part. My mav will be finished by april, and I was just going to use stock manifolds until now. I'm going to have to get a set of those soon.

    Okay. As of last Wednesday...

    9 chrome sets in boxes.

15 sets at ceramic coater. We hope to see these in the next week.

25 sets in polishing almost ready to go out for coating.

We are very close now  .

I can tell you with confidence that most coaters use the same formula for ceramic coating. Some companies will add other ingredients to that basic formula to add luster to thier product. But for the most part, all are the same. What I have found, through "real world testing" is that it is the prep of the substrate that makes all the difference. Some places dont take the time needed to create a good coating, and for this reason, the coating fails. As mentioned earlier, I have tested a few different coaters in stituations where I thought I would push these coatings to the limit. I won't tell you who these companies are, as this is just to illustrate the r & d work that I have done to choose the right coating for our product. I simply asked for some of our product to be coated using what they thought was their biggest and best coating and tried them on cars and trucks that see extreme usage. Heres what I found...

1989 5.0 Mustang. N/A (sqeezes it occasionally), suffers a 70 mile commute on California freeways DAILY! Drag races at least 4 times a month. Runs high 11's at sea level. Has seen extensive dyno time (at least a 100 pulls). Pulled his bbk's off and had them coated by company X. I was told by these guys that their coating will withstand temps higher than the melting point of steel. WOW, I said to myself.

The coating failed at around 200 miles. The surface felt like sand paper and started to flake off of the header. Recoated by another company and is still going strong. Still has a nice sheen and basically looks the same as the day I installed them.

2007 Honda Fit. Supercharged w/ 12 psi. Spent hours on the dyno working out fuel and timing tables. Has approx. 8000 miles on it, including many trips to Las Vegas and back. Has seen many track days and has been driven to the limit. We own the car and its kinda like our test mule :D .

Same company coated the header and no defects to report as of yet.

These are only a few examples of testing we have done to select the best coating possible for our products. So basically, over the last year or so, I've been busy dyno testing, abusing and driving what we sell. Its a tough job but someone has to do it ;) .

I can't say that any jet-hot product is bad simply because I have never put them to the test. All I can tell you is that the coater(s) that we use have passed my test for durabilty.

I will know very shortly. I sent a member here a set and he is in the process of trying these out on his 351w car.

Some good news and bad news....

First I would like to thank grbmaverickmo (Chris) for all of his hard work. He has an abundunt supply of mavericks and was able to verify the fitment of the shorties on various trans/motor configurations. Thanks man!!! Give me a call and we will discuss the bribe, errr uh, payment for all your input, pics, and long nights in your garage  . Again Thanks Chris, you da man.

    The good news...
These fit column shifted cars!!!! [IMG]

Chris checked these on his factory column shift car and says they definately fit. NO problem here. Also fits power steering cars and you wont need to buy a drop bracket either.

    The bad news...

The 351w is a no-go. We thought that these would be close but, unfortunately, they were all over the steering box and shock towers. Chris was not able to lower the motor back down without the header hitting first. Ya, I know, this sucks but hope is not lost. In the future I may do a swap header specifically for our cars with a 351w. I will have to find a car locally and find time in my schedule to do this.

    Manual trans equiped cars...

These wont fit a stick-shift car due the the factory z-bar. Chris was kind enough to try this configuration as well. I dont know how many guys out there still have the three on the tree or a toploader. I dont want to leave a single "mavericker" out so if I get an overwhelming outcry for this I will seriously think about making changes to the exsisting design or doing another one.

As always I will answer any questions so please feel free to ask.

    Jamie

No problem Jamie, glad I could help. It's great that companies are finally making parts specifically for our cars. I would help as much as I can to try and get other stuff available for our cars. I will definately be at the top of the ordering list when the 351 headers come about. I was very impressed with the fit and quality of your headers. Anytime I can help you again just let me know. Thanks, Chris
