Ford has been using 190* stats in most models since the mid 60s... The '65-'72 Master Parts Catalog states to use a 190/192* hi-temp stat(200* in a couple applications) in all engines that have permanent antifreeze...Says only use a low temp if alcohol antifreeze has been installed... I saw my first 192* in a friends 289 '65 Comet so I bought one for my '64 Ford to get more heat out of it... That was around Christmas of '68 as I'd just moved back from working in IA...
