I don't see how they are selling $15K Mustang shells with parts that are already being produced, R&D already paid for and tooling already paid for .... and then a Maverick shell for $6K when nothing has been paid for. Perhaps Mavaholic is right ... Joe won the lottery and is gonna give the stuff away!
I would say at the $15,000 price that Dynacore fetches for a 1967 Mustang body....a similar priced Maverick body would sell: zero Just my opinion.
The fact is,,, we dont know what it would cost at this time,,, But the Idea,,, Is very possible,,, Even if we didnt build the entire car,,, All the parts would be there,, Some one could do it,, and then again,,, we might just try it to see,, How many new reproduction parts were available in June of this year for the Maverick and Comet,,? How many out there said,,,This Joe guy is full of Hot air,,,,Others said they would and delivered nothing,,? Here we are in March, we have 34 parts that will be out and in your hands in the next 6 weeks,, Not counting the parts that came out just a few weeks from saying we would give it a whurl,,,, we started this in September,, and actual parts are out on the market,, have been touched and photo'd By members that have an eye for quality,, Have Faith,,,, I always let my track record stand up and do the talking,, :Handshake ,,,,,,, Besides they said that it couldnt be done,,,,,, Lets chart these waters together and see what we can do,, Many people on here are serious profesional Maverick and Comet wizzards,, So Together we just might pull it off,,, So lets not look at cost yet,,, but get some Idea's on what and how we make changes to the car to make it sweet for all,,, Cost is a future way off,,, But the Idea's are a starting point,, or just might end up as replacement parts that works better for our cars,,,,, Joe
Would I personally buy one? No. But I would love to see it done, a totally new body shell just because I think it would be cool. Keep at it, before too long all the parts I need to fix my '74 Grabber will be available. It needs frame rails, torque boxes and the front floor pan/trans tunnel.
Very interesting idea. And yes, please have the shock tower delete an option. Stang II or shaved towers/strut would be great. The tight clearance of the stock body is just ridiculous.
Let's look into it... as far as shipping... I could up... swap drive train and stuff... it home...(2-3 days at most) blk. baked on epoxy... cost... (i will check with Effie but i think)I've got Franks money... ...Go Joe...:Handshake ...Frank...
If this were to happen, I think we would see a whole new wave of Maverick/Comet enthusiasts looking for rust free projects. This in turn may lead to a whole slew of parts being reproduced and the possibility of turnkey and up to date Mavericks.
Most of the people that I know really like the Maverick body style. What scares people away is that lack of avaliable parts. As parts become avaliable, I think these cars are really going to catch on. You know....no one really thought that the old AMC javelins would become of collectable value....these cars are hot now. A clean nicely optioned javelin sst is selling anywhere from $10,000-$20,000. Clean AMX'S are going through the roof @ $20,000+. I really think that the Maverick is going to be the next "HOT" car. Why? In my opinion it's a nicely styled car. It's too bad that it was just a little to late for the muscle car era. Also, it's not a Mustang, Camaro, GTO, or whatever. People want something different.....affordable. Face it, a lot of us just can't afford a car like the above mentioned. People even want top dollar for junk.....The Maverick/Comet is still affordable for the common man. Keep up the good work Joe!
I too believe that the Maverick/Comets are the next big thing to hit the desireable mark as the muscle cars continue to become un-obtainable to the true enthusiast who doesnt have 30 to 60 G's for yet another "yawn" SS camaro or boss mustang. Those markets are flourishing with all the available parts so it stands to reason the mav/comet will go in the same direction if the support is there. After speaking with Joe on the phone the other day,I believe if any one can do it it will be Joe.He is a take no prisoners/dont tell me it cant be done kind of guy.Ideas and suggestions are what get us going in the right direction. We are on the cusp of something that with Joes abilitys and our Ideas could really snowball.I know I am stoked about the whole thing just like I am about finding this forum and all the great people here.So in the words of Larry the cable guy.Lets"git er done" Pete.
I think it's a great idea!! Price is the big factor too! Maverick popularity is starting to grow, so it would help to have brand new shell!
Everything from the trans tunnel forward is bent. Even the floor where the torque boxes are welded at are warped, on the passenger side it shoved the top of the torque box up into the floor, and the picture dosen't show it good, but the inside of that frame rail is creased pretty bad. I was told it was bent too bad to pull it out on a frame machine. Lincoln Navigators don't mix well with Mavericks.
I probably could not afford it, but the convertable Maverick may not be a bad idea if this comes to pass.
