Guys...I've got one of the quarter drops in my hands! This part is way better than what came on the car from the factory. I'm just as impressed by this panel as I am by the battery trays these guys are making. The outer lower qtr patch panels are suppose to be out very soon along with the little pocket area that ties together at the front of the qtr drop and outer patch panel. I've personally had to fabricate this pocket before so I'll be happy to see it on the market. Joe is going to be offering these three pieces in a kit at a savings. If you have rust in your lower qtrs, you need to take a close look at these parts. The metal these are made from in called galvaneel. It is way thicker than the original sheetmetal and will never rust. I'm very impressed with the qtr drop and I'm sure the rest of the parts will be equally as nice.

That is cool to hear that they came through and that they are an upgrade.

Any special precautions for welding Galvaneel? Any different techniques?

I know that you have to avoid the fumes when MIG welding galvanized metal.

I will probably be buying the three piece set for my driver side when I get to that stage of the bodywork. I used to keep a fabric gym bag full of tools in that pocket in the trunk. Probably had a little trunk leak, too. Wet bag rusted out my drop on that side ...

If it contains Zinc, then there are some special precautions, I once got the "Zinc Chills" as they were called, it wasn't fun.
Ray, post some pictures of the parts for us to see.

I wish I had started my Grabber a few years later so I could actually use some of these parts. I so would have bought these!

Dave, I started a new thread with a pic. I wish I was needing to use it already. I'm dying to see how this stuff welds. It's very heavy and looks like it will do great! I'm suppose to get the outer quarter patch in a week or two. Suppose to be made out of the same stuff. Should never rust back through again if it's as good as what I've read. (y)

I think I'll ask Joe to send me a scrap piece of galvaneel so I can test weld on it. That way I can tell you guys what I REALLY think. (y)

Thanks Ray, I saw that after I posted.
I wonder if the metal, is like the new style galvanized that we use for duct work??

Other than the qtr drops, I haven't heard of anything else being ready at this time. I do have one of the inner qtr drops and they look real nice.
