10 bucks where I live will only get u the lowest quality of oil. I don't know what 10 bucks buys in ur "neck of the woods," but u might find some here if u catch some kind of promo. Im assuming ur not talkin filter? I never change one w/o the other. "To me, that's like showering after sweating all day and put the same underwear back on."
Personally, I don't beleive in generic oil or filters. It's the life blood the CAR/ENGINE - Penzoil, Valvoline Castrol or something like that in 10-30 or 10-40. I wud cut corners somewhere else.
Only way I buy cheap oil is if I had a beater using/burning oil and I plan on dumpin the car or replacing the engine....JMO...

If they supply the oil and filter, 10 bucks for changing someone's oil is fine. Can you get rid of the old oil and filter for free? If not, tack that onto your price.

I misunderstood the post. Thought u were trying to do a complete change in ur own car for 10 bucks. Sorry. I think that's a fair price.

I know they buy the oil in bulk... I pay @12.00 dollars US per gallon for Delo 100 40 Wt oil and use Hastings filters which aren't cheap.. I do it myself.
So I really wonder what you getting at a service place.

I do my own on the Maverick. I have a reliable garage do my everyday cars. The Nissan dealer had an oil change offer for $17.95. It turned out to be a pain in the neck. First they told me, I needed a 60,000 mile check up for $460.00. Then they told me my front brakes were down to 20% and my rears 30%. Then I needed two new tires. Then I needed an in cabin filter, $90.00. I was there for over an hour.

My newer Vehicles I take to Valvoline cause of the on board computer service records. Im lucky in that I have a friend that runs the place. My wife is a Quad Her HAE250 is custom (which I paid cash for the stock van cost 19,999.00 the rest cost 47,000.00) and she dont know squat, but I send her there and they take very good care of her van. It is good to have friends. My Harley..It goes to the Dealer, HD always sends me an E mail after a service, where I can rate the service, nice check and balance system. But the Harley shop in Yuma since there has been one here, is always passed on to the Chief Mechanic. The last 2 owners are friends of mine. So...who do you trust? I dont trust anybody, I check the work after It gets home and if I find anything wrong(which I havent yet) I bring it to whom ever. I only deal with people I know.
My other Vehicles, I service myself and take the filter and old oil back to the parts store I bought them from for collection and recycleing. So I guess its worth what you can afford.
