    I have relied on the FelPro rubber/w steel core for many years and also use them on the valve covers. Yes, they are little more expensive but they sure take car of leaks................I use studs on both the pan and valve covers.

    I like cork ,rubber swells if it gets hot,like everyone says do not overtighten

    The FelPro gaskets (expensive ones) are actually Silicon/Rubber compound. A lot of racers use them because they will hold a vacuum unlike cork and some rubber only gaskets. These will not swell under the worst heating conditions, that is unless your motor gets over 1300 degrees.
