Very nice!:thumbs2: If you have a nasty aluminum intake, you can sandblast it with fine sand and clearcoat it. My friend did his like this and it looks great. Good luck on the rest of your car. You`re off to a good start!:)

clearcoat will usually turn yellow from the heat of the motor after a while.

You pay for your projects the same way I do. My next project is to paint my neighbors house. that will get the $ to get my 302 HO together.

Funny how alot of folks do that - my project is paid for by my other hobby, PINBALL (hence my handle, "Popbumper"). I repair circuit boards and restore full machines, and the money goes back towards my car.

Not trying to steer the topic - you are doing a really wonderful job.

Thanks for all the kind words on my project. I am going to try and make you all proud as fellow Maverick owner! I hope that didn't come out wrong? I don't think that in the end my car will be any better than anyone elses car. I am just trying to build the best car I can with the abilities that I have. I may have said it before, but my goal with this car is to do everything myself with the only exception being the machine work on the engine block, and upholstering the seats and installing the headliner. That is the plan anyway, time will tell. I should be able to stick to it.

As far as the PPG paint, well I consider myself very fortunate to have background that I have as a car hobbiest. I can't imagine how hard body and paint must be for the average guy that has had no formal training. The work itself isn't overly dificult. But I know it can be very intimidating. I see guys walk into our stores all the time that look like a deer in headlights.

I get to have the latest and greatest of all the technology from PPG while working on my car. I am going to be painting this car in the new Envirobase water borne paint as well. The stuff rocks! I get to spend my days lately training painters on the use of it and have had nothing but success.

I love how most of us car guys all have some way of paying for this addiction. We have guys on here selling used parts to help pay for their toy. Guys doing other kind of side work, whatever it may be. For me that is one of the benefits of being a tradesman.
