The state of Illinois allows up to 2 numbers and 4 letters on personalized antique license plates.

    So, I ordered...

    74 CMT

VA allows use of year of mfgr plates to be used and as much as I like personalized tags, I chose that route... Our antique tags are either blue & yellow(similar color to my car), or a B&W squared edge thing that belongs on a 100 year old Model T... Still lots of people choose those vs the more modern blue & yellow tags...

Harold found a tag in the bed of a junked truck at the junkyard that had...PATCHE...on it and gave it to me.
I took it to the tag office to see if I could put it on PATCHES. she ran the numbers and it was still reg. to an insured car. she took it and said she would return it to the owner. to that I replied I should have just hung it on my shop wall. then she said if I was going to hang it on the wall I could have it and gave it back to me...

Also have a COMETGT black license plate for my Comet GT, although it is currently on another car as the GT is non-op'd.
