Tough Decision... Torque thrust's are as popular as they are for a reason. They are sweet. How about the hopsters? My preference is 17 x 8's all around with a 225/45/17. For a number of reasons. They look great & the tires are reasonable due to the popular size. I recommend Continental Conti Extreme Contact's. Great performing all-season tire. Your right by the way, Wheels make the car... My car is currently wearing 16x7" Mustang wheels with 225/45/16"
Size Does matter.....the 25's were only on the two seaters. We had big-in's on the work wagons....36'ers in front a 40's out back..... The wheels were real wood's with center bolt knock offs..... Oh, and we didn't slamm our wagons back then.... had real bench seats... The biggest problem we had was we only had 4 horse power so our 60 ft times were bad and when the horses backfired, well you get the idea..
i like the 14 or 15's better... I like the old muscle car look. talking about that, i was going to put some "cooper cobra GT" on my 14's but they don't go bigger than 235/60 any other brand with white letters on the side that would go bigger than that?
old thread, still a good one. I had a deal that I could not pass up on, I got two full sets of late model 94-04 style bullitt wheels, $200 for all 8 wheels. I'll use 4 on my 66 mustang project, and 4 for now on the maverick to save cash. so it'll get 17x8's. I just can't turn down a $100 set of wheels
what spacers are you using? I want to use 2000cobra r's 17x9 with +45mmoffset i've been looking at the transdapt spacers they are 1.25" and only cost around $150
running 1" on the front and 1.25" on the rear. i could have probably gotten away with 1" on the rear because im only running 245-45 tires but just wanted to be sure and get enough clearence. i got all four of mine for $120/to my door
I may be in the mionority, but I >sure< don't mind. Back in the 80's, I had a '79 Pinto wagon with 13's on the front and 14's on the rear - aluminum slots with raised whites - classic looks, for sure. Nice set, Tony! Chris
