    Thanks Tim,

I like the white interior on your GT! Goes nice with GREEN!

The thing I find interesting about the paint is that usually the rear tail-light panel is painted the same color as the stripes. If that was the case...it would have been painted silver....put was not.

    ????????

Not on the 71 grabber blue cars either...they had silver stripes with black tail panels

All 71 Grabbers had black tail panels, the 72s color coordinated the panel to the stripes. The 71's also all had black taillight surrounds as 72's had chrome, (except for black striped cars).

Those solenoids were used on the 428 CJ cars in '69 for some reason. Most non- 428 cars had standard type.

What year did you buy it? There is a guy parting out a 74 Maverick and it has that solenoid. Is it a St. Thomas car?

None look like that in the Chiltons for the Ford Parts manual ... they all look like the typical solenoid. The parts manual does list about a 1/2 dozen part numbers for all cars from 65-72 ...

    FYI ....

    I just went to NapaOnline.

First I searched for a 1971 Maverick Starter Solenoid ... it showed the typical one that we all know and love. :) It was the only one they listed for this year car.

Then I searched for a 1977 Maverick Starter Solenoid ... it showed not only the typical one but the type shown in Ralphs car as well ... The old type is marked as non-insulated posts ... the newer one is marked as insulated posts. Perhaps Ralph forgot he changed it sometime in the last 35 years? :)
