I bought a 77 Maverick, a little over a year ago. It has the 250 with an automatic. I've driven it as my daily driver. Always starts. Never any problems. Just tuneup & oil changes. I love it. Great gas mileage also...
Good luck!!!! I did have to change out the center link, when it broke. I had a parts car & it took 2 hours to fix.... Still driving it today....

The Comet and Maverick are my sister and I's daily drivers, mainly because we can't afford to buy anything else, I've owned my Comet for about 3 years now, and she's owned the Maverick for 1. Due to my stupidity and thinking I could race with an old car with a tired drive train, I ended up breaking a lot of things on the Comet (U Joints.. twice ugh.. transmission.. twice.. well the first time was a hack job), granted, most things on a near 40 year old car are gonna go out anyways(accessories, etc), but with the exception of a small coolant leak from the rad, I really don't have a qualms about the car. The Mav has some bum valve seals, but other than the occasional quart, we haven't done anything to the car, Jamie sold us a true gem.
