The wife and I will be heading out Wednesday afternoon and stopping about half-way to spend the night and then make the rest of the trip Thursday morning. So we should be there right when the racing starts!!:bananaman I guess i'll pull my slow Comet out there and give it a go!!(y) Gonna be hard to get used to that sportsman tree though.

I think the fastest car "on motor only" will be between John Ford, Jim Allen, or the dude with the superstock Maverick. I have no clue who will be the fastest when the power adders come into the mix, usually it's whoever can get it hooked up...........but if the track is prepped, everyone should be hookin up pretty good. I'm sure it will be a great time any way you look at it, I can't wait!!!(y)

I think I convinced the wife to stay the night in Owensboro. Now, we can get there early afternoon, stay all night, then Pittsburg the next morning.

We will be leaving from Memphis, anniversary at Heartbreak Hotel. How long is the drive from there going through Bowling Green?

    Scooper,

BG is right at a 2-hour drive from Owensboro (about 100 miles). Not sure about BG to Memphis. Bring plenty of change though...the best way from BG to Owensboro is a toll road, and there are about 4 toll booths in between the two. Not too bad though...I think it's about $5 total for all of them. I hate towing the car through them though..costs twice as much!

    Later,

Can I get specific directions, including the toll road from Bowling Green, to where the "festivities" are located? Or a shorter route from Memphis or Nashville?

Also, any suggestions for reasonable/cheap/clean motel for the night. If it has a jacuzzi tub in the room, I can guarantee that the wife will let us come. :D

    has far as hotels go....
    www.visitowensboro.com

do a search on hotels.....the nicest hotel around is the one we are staying at. Its $65 a night, but it includes 2 free breakfast buffets, thats a $14 dollar value. So the rooms if you look at it like I do, are only $51 dollars a night.

I would say that, unless we can get Todd and Dave from Arkansas to come, that Ashton's car will be the fastest motor car, if he gets it dialed in.
As far as power adders......either Stephen and Jim (aka Purple70).
Jim Allen's car is a rocket ship.....and I am not sure what he has done to it since the last time I seen it, but that thing would fly.

Just to add again whats been said. If you have never been....you have never seen/experienced anything like. It is truly a gathering of great people.

Do what you can to attend....even if only for a day.
