Those springs are shot. You can get brand new springs for a little more than $100 from www.espo.com

DO NOT use those shackles as others have stated.

I have a set of extended shackles on the Comet.. Only went to the first hole and chopped off the rest.. I'll be gettin new springs soon though. I didn't need anything extra to do the swap either..

if you going after that look, consider geting a flip kit. it moves the diff from the top of the spings to the bottom of the spings. there is a bracket that sits on the diff and alines off the pad thats on the diff. they are usually around 60 bucks. just search for leaf sping flip kits on google. a kit for a ford ranger should work. your just using it backwards as to how a truck uses it. you only need the bracket. you will have to do something custom for the shock mounts becasue they will be moved to the wrong location and hight now.
the best way is to do that econoline sping build. they will probly givie you the hight your seeking in there stock configuration.

Shackles went out with gabriel hijackers in the 60's-70's, so we could lift up the back of our cars to put some mickey thompsom 50.s under the car.
Any way just go to o'reilly auto parts. R/V leaf springs its a bolt on thing .

If someone still wants that look I have a complete matching set of slots to sell. Two 15 x7's, Two 15 x 10's "Western Wheel" brand slots. Just took em off my 89 Ranger.

I had my leaf springs rearched, added a 4th leaf & made sure they were arched 1 inch higher than stock. Cost was $160 for the pair. 24 hour turn around. I could've had them arched to sit higher if I wanted. Might want to check that out. Just my 02.... whole lot better than shackles.

I need my Comet to be very tall in the back. It is very important. I hate the shackles as I feel they are scary in turns but at my pay rate I can't afford even $160 for new springs. My factory ones are flattening out so I need something. Tax handout is coming, so is my handout from Obama so maybe instead of his buying me an assault rifle he will be buying me some super high arch springs.

I have a pair of 15" 12 inch wide Cragars waiting to be rechromed and installed.

not to hijack (or Gabriel HiJack), but does anyone have a good source for factory like shackle replacements? Mine were wrecked when the springs were taken off.

That doesn't look bad at all. The tires aren't as wide as I would prefer and just a tad tall. But the way the shackle looks, to me, ain't bad...

I was pretty disheartened when I saw a pair of L-60s at a used tire shop cuz I knew those suckers wouldn't fit without either sticking out or doing some work.
