Exactly, remember when Mercury brought back the Cougar in the late 1990's? Very disappointing, 4 or 6 cylinder power and front wheel drive. Nothing like the original, except for the name.

I'm thinking you guys may be way over-estimating the public's long term memory.. the term "extremely fickle" comes to mind.. while also highly under-estimating their interest in light-weight econo-muscle with cool retro styling.

There was another iteration somewhere on this site that showed a blue prototype Maverick (GT maybe?) similar to a Mustang and that little car would absolutely fly with an Ecoboost 6 in it.

And what if Ford also incorporated an AL body like the newest F150 into that mix too?

People would buy them whether or not all the purist agreed with the newest renditions styling cues or not. Performance AND retro wrapped in leather and rolling along on 18" wheels sells like hotcakes these days.

Ford would ruin the Maverick if they brought it back.

Obviously, they won't produce any model that upstages the Mustang, so realistically, I'd like to see one the size of the current 2-door Honda Accord, front-wheel drive, 24 valve V-6.

Sure, I'd rather have a RWD with a V-8, but we already know that would never happen.

I do like the front of the design that was posted in this thread.

I say leave the name rest - too many nameplates from the past have been resurrected with lackluster results :naughty:

Thanks much! Been around here more than a while now and never once saw this build. Don't really have much time to go through it all right now.. but just quickly shooting through the video quickly made you my newest hero of the week. Awesome logistical engineering at work here. My hats waaayyy off to you sir. :tiphat:

I agree w/ most of the posts, they would prob. just mess it up & to many cars look to much alike. When my dad was alive,if he saw a 30s,40s or 50s car he knew what it was right away, because each car co. only made one basic body style. Now you can`t tell many of them apart because they all look alike.
