I wouldn't cut it,I wish I could find a good hood w/o holes in it.Besides ruining the sorta sleeper look you have,I'm not real fond of scoops anyway(unless it's a racecar and it actually serves a purpose).

    Perfect sleeper look....

....is what you have now. Add a hood scoop...and that goes away IMO.

    I voted 'don't'.

I cut my perfect Comet hood, to put on a GT hood scoop. I'm like you. If I was going to do it, it was going to be functional. I say, "go for it!" You won't regret it...

i always err on the side of caution. i'd find another hood. that way you can always put it back if you change your mind.

    Ditto!

    I think it's perfect now.

If you have a jones for violating stuff, buy a new project and get going on that.

If it were me, I would cut it. Like the street rodders say, "Anyone can restore a car. It takes a real man to cut one up!"
But seriously, I can understand not wanting to cut it. As far as matching the paint, there are many automotive paint stores that have spectrum analyzers. If you take in something like one of your rear 1/4 extensions, they can scan it and come up with a paint formula for it. I worked at a new car dealer for 25 years. We did this on several occassions on tough paint matches.

I have a '95 Flareside that bought new. The first week I owned it, I took it apart to paint the front bumper, grill, and headlight bezels body color. (a bright blue metallic) I got 2 different Factory Packs of PPG paint from the paint store and neither of them were even close! They did the spectrum analyzer deal for me, using my fuel filler door, and got a very good match.

Cut it, the scoops totally set these cars off. To me, a Comet without a scoop looks like it's missing something..

jmgford has the right idea. I'd get another hood, cut it and then paint it. Then you could alternate hoods according to how you feel, sleeper look or hot rod look. just my :2cents:

Personally, I think the Comet GT hoodscoop is ugly. The only way I would have one is if I had an original Comet GT, otherwise I'd leave the hood stock...

Why? The stock hood is not worth anything. Adding a GT scoop to the car will increase the value and best of all make it look 1000% better

Um... He said it's mint so I would think it's worth something. There are hoods out there that are better for cutting into...:2cents:

I have a "mint" Comet hood. No dents, rust, or anything. Damn straight it'll be getting a scoop.
