Yes, 2" inlet. Yes, bottoming out. T.L. look away before I finish this reply...

I put longer shackles on the rear, larger tires 245/60r15 on the rear, and air shocks, which I keep at lowest setting (probably did not need them after the 1" raise from shackles). Also added bolt on traction bars to keep from going too far down. Before then, I would hit bottom on the pipes when going around corners on an incline that leveled out, or on speed bumps. Now, I clear anything, but my rear end is kinda high.

I think that any good muffler guy could cut the 2" inlet out, and hook a 3" header collector directly to the pipes so you would have a 3" in and 3" out.

I dont ever remember getting exhaust fumes in the car with the rear windows open. But then again back then I was stoned most of the time anyways.

AND, just what is wrong with that?!!! Said the guy who went to high school and college in the '70s, built his first hot rod in the '70s, voted for the first time in the '70s, and fondly remembers the '70s. The worse thing about the '70s was Jimmy Carter, not sidepipes...or PINTOS.

Patriot has a nice set of side pipes now with a turbo tube instead of the glass pac variety. Hooker has a really nice setup althought I hear that the reverse flow tubes rob power and sound crappy. I think the a c cobra had the best looking and sounding side pipes (mannly pipes, lol ). I see nothing wrong with them T. L. but each to his own but I use to like parachute pants too at one time. With the right side pipes a maverick looks good.(y)

Yep. He was as bad a governor as he was a president. Of course, on the semi-bright side, by him running for and getting elected president, we didn't have to worry about him having a second term as governor.:hmmm::huh:

BTW, the right sidepipes on the right car is great. I had a friend, back in the '70s, who had a '72 Comet GT. He put sidepipes on that car and it looked great.

The side pipe lengths are as follows, if any one has ever looked at a cataloge to find out-60", 70", 80". I used to have sidepipes on my custom vans back in the 70'S!!!!! if you take care of them, like not bottomingout and keeping them washed and put a little wax on the chrome they look good for many years. they sound good and look cool, its a cheap way to have a louder exhaust. you can't do anything about the "S" bends in the tubes that connect the headers to the side pipes its just that way. oh by the way if you don't want a shield then you need to live near a clinic or hospital so you can have medical attention handy for when the pipes take off about 3 layers of skin every time your leg drags across them getting out of the car!!! remember little kids like to touch shiney things!! good luck with your search.jegs catalog page 21-D Patriot 50" long $189.99, 60" long $195.99, 70" long $199.99.page 15-D Lake 4" pipes $239.99-$265.99. wayne

I think I'll sell one of my Mavericks, buy a PINTO, and put sidepipes on it. I'll leave the four-banger in it; just put on the sidepipes, big fat tires in the back, and SHACKLES. Won't that be a cool "stuck in the '70s" ride?:bananaman:bananaman
