    Jack,

I grew up in Hodgenville, a small town of 2,500(birthplace of Abraham Lincoln), graduated high school there, went to Bowling Green, then after graduation from WKU, moved to the Louisville area, where I lived for the next 20 years. Moved to Fl in '91. My sister still homebases in Hodgenville, winters in Fl.

    Ever go back home?

I was back a few years ago for my mother's funeral.

We were raised poor kids in a town with an old English cast system.

Since we were poor we were written off as nothing more than factory fodder, or coal mine slaves.

I entered the military two days after graduation and spent 20 years in the military. I retired in June 1978 and went to work for Lockheed. In 2003 I retired from Lockheed.

I hate that town and only when I landed in TEXAS did I find equal chance for an education and a great position as an engineer with Lockheed Martin Co.

When I went to MHS they did not allow me to take a single college prep course. Many of my advanced courses were taken at the university level.
My first ever Physics course was taken during my second masters degree.

My younger brother was allowed to take college prep courses but was told by the advisor that he was not college material. He finished pre med at UK in 3 years with a 4.0 GPA. He graduated from the University of Louisville Med School number one in his med class. He was the 5th neuro-radioligist in the U.S. and he and four other docs invented the heart stunt procedure.
He is a retired doc and lives in Calif. owning 300 acres of avocatos and 5 shopping malls.

We would all been dead by now working in the factories in Mburg. There was even a cast system within the factories, as to who could be hired in what factory.

I went back for the 40th reunion and we had to stand and give a short resume. There was a lot of surprised looks when I spoke.

Maysville is miserable little **** hole as far as I am concerned and if I never see it again that will be fine with me.

TEXAS has been great for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They should change the state name to Kentaxie.

My youngest brother still lives there and owns a garage and a farm. He is happy there.

I have been to the state with the big straight roads and lots of land for 38 happy years.

Out here it does not matter what level of the socially you started on, but what your education and qualifications are.

Some folks in Maysville still think Truman is in the White House and vote like it also.
