Bench-racing is a hoot. Stories from the past and nightmares from the present.
I, too, have been playing with cars for a long time (since 1959), back when a somewhat loud V8 was the music.
The current Concerto by 4-bangers does nothing for me and I often see $500.00 cars running around with Thousand-dollar sound systems and seven-hundred dollar exhaust systems. All on 40 or 50 series tires.

I'll stick with the cars you can tune-up with a matchbook cover and $0.45 scredwriver, thank you very much.

Can you imagine an in-person bench-racing session with a dozen "Old-guys"? The 1st liar wouldn't stand a chance.

Regardless, many of the Newbees know a lot about today's stuff that I can only look at and wonder how they make it work. Cars have gotten better but nostalgia counts too.

That's why I want to get an older car. Those Cruisin nights will be fun.

I'm a participant on a number of somewhat related forums but I'm more pleased with the caliber of people that frequent this one.

Diggin cars is more than a hobby. It's a passion. AND, it keeps you young. How do I know this? My wife keeps telling me to grow up.

Please, all of you, have a Merry Christmas and a most happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

May Santa bring you what you want while leaving those Gremlin-Elves at home.

    God bless you and yours.

I Agree. Though I've only been driving for five years and didnt have the opportunity to live in the days that the v8's were what powered the world i cant stand the little four cylinder tuners. yes i have a taurus SHO but it's my daily driver and i wouldnt work on the engine if i wanted to. I agree completely with you the sound of an old v8 wether it be factory or a 1500 horse power machine is better than anything that you hear coming out of the industry today. i'm 20 and have owned close to 15 vehicles only 3 of which didnt have a v8 of some type. and two of the three still had oldschool engines in them.

I'd have another 73 Maverick but my buddy didnt tell me soon enough that it had gotten towed. the city had it towed because it had been sitting in the street for too long factory 302 car with headers. impounded it on a 300 dollar bail. i'd have dropped that in a heartbeat for it.
