    To be honest I have found the stock starters to be super reliable.
    With a good igntion system and car tuned right I know mine fires with a tap of the key (that is after I pump the gas a few times).
    I was gonna buy an upgraded starter but I keep waiting(5 years) for my original to bugger out:D

    those late model starters are notorious for staying engaged for a second or 2 after you release the key. You have to wire it differently....not just use a jumper. The jumper "works" but there is a much better way, and I'll see if I can post the diagram tomorrow. I did it on my Mustang. I love the late model PMGR starters! Sure do save room around the tight Mustang 302 headers!

    well.

    I suppose a guy could just bypass the solenoid on the starter alltogether and just hook the battery cable to the lug that goes into the starter.
    That would certainly cure the sticky solenoid problem.

    Well ya can't bypass the solenoid on the starter, tried it.
    So I removed the original solenoid and ran the "S" terminal wire down to the starter solenoid and hooked it to the aluminium stud and removed the jumper, place a terminal block in place of the original solenoid and brought all the wires together at that point, I then deleted the brown wire on the other side of the solenoid. If you have electric choke on your carb you can hook it up to the brown wire as it gets about 6 volts when the ignition is on.
    No 1-2 second delay on the starter now.:)
