Know what ya mean, I did mine in '97.
In my small 70 tunnel I had to split open the top of the tunnel and add metal to clear the T5s shift rod tube.

So.....do you have any driveline vibrations? If the end of the trans is below the original position, I would think there would be problems.?

Did you reinforce the upper side of the brace before cutting the notch for the tube? Or is that overkill? I was planning on laying a 1/8th inch thick plate on top of the tunnell and welding it to keep the tunnel/floor from moving....any thoughts on that?
I need to notch my brace to get the driveline angle I want.

i did not reinforce for the cut.

im sure its weaker but i have not seen any problem from it on any of the cars ive done. Mashoris car has over 20,000 miles on his conversion. his has gone 140mph in the silver state classic. its done countless trips down the drag strip.

the trans crossmember is the bottom side of this support so its like a loop to hold it all together. also once you add a cage or subframe connectors things get stiffer. then put in a drive shaft safty loop i would have no fear of any weakness from the cuts to the rib.

i dont cut the section out. i will slice it and fold it forward. the section that is spot welded to the tunnel is not cut and still 1 piece

okie dokie, thanks Bryant, sounds like it might be overkill, and not really needed.
