OK, well they have 2 different ones 280 lbs feet for $1000 & a 330 lbs feet for $1300. Also they dont make a crossmember for our cars so i'm sure the guy that tube the car can make one but is it anything special I need to let him in on, short cuts or what have you. What type of clutch linkage do you use? I called a guy that came up with a price of about $2500 for everything but a crossmember & clutch linkage, is this around what you spent?

I did the whole t5 swap for just basically the price of the clutch.I had the trans and all accesories from the 5.0 donor car i used for the engine and trans.I used a cable clutch and every thing is custom fabricated by ME,i used a pto cable from a dump truck,i made my own cross member. As for cost it will only be what you make it,you can save alot with used stuff, but if you want everything new $2500.00 probably isn't far off.

For $2500 I would get a TKO500 or 600. I wouldnt spend that much on a regular T5 that holds only 280-330ft lbs. You can get a TKO600 for under $1700.

Yeah I thought it was to much too. I did add itup: clutch $300, alum bellhousing $200, flywheel $250, Speedo cable & gears & some beefup parts to handle a little more hp. The trans was $1200. The other stuff most likly we cant use like pedels & crossmember. I lthink the 5 speed might be alittle more fun than the C4 plus I can take that 3.55 gear out.

If your talking about 3.55 gear in the rear end leave it.I have 3.89 in mine and other than 1st gear being really short [probably be better with 3.55's] it only revs 1800 rpm at 60 mph on the highway and will get 26-28 mpg with a mild 302 [small roller cam alum intake headers etc..] derek.

My 200 six with a T5 and 2:79 rear gears is hard pressed to get into 5th gear unless I'm going 70+ mph. Stick with the 3:55 gears.

It isn't real hard to go from an auto to a manual. You need the pedal assy, linkage for the clutch or aftermarket hydraulic unit, flywheel, clutch cover and clutch plate and the transmission. The cross-member can be used but you have to either slot the holes or weld an extension onto the mount pad and drill it. Depending on the transmission length you might need to modify your drive shaft or have one built.
Its a lot easier to go from a manual to an auto but either way can be done with the right parts and a little work.

I paid $999 for my "Z" T5 (330 lb ft) new from D&D Performance and included the correct speedo cable gear. Used an adaptor plate to mount the trans to my old bellhousing and reused the existing clutch and clutch linkage. Used the stock crossmember, cut out the dropped center portion, moved rearward 1 1/2" and welded back together. Did eventually get a Steeda Triax shifter, cheap off eBay, 'cause the stock shifter SUCKS. The swap can be done pretty inexpensively.

Thanks for the offer blown76Mav, I have been checking locally for a donor & i might have one insight. Went to the track tonight to see what I could find. Ran accorss a guy that is starting a need racecar so I think he has alot of the parts but i haven't seen the car yet, will do so this weekend. I know shipping on a trans might be a costly. I will let you all know what I come up with.
That is a very informational company BMCDaniel. They have a toon of stuff if I miss something, it looks like they have it. Do anyone have pic of this swap or the finished outcome. Can I keep my bench sets?

I got the trans out of the mustang this weekend. Now I need some pedals. Can pedals be bought new from a parts store? If not, what car to pull them from? I also pulled the clutch cable, can this be used?
