I have over $20K in my Sprint and thats with me doing everything but upholstery. Considering what new cars cost, its really not that bad.
Thanks for the compliment on my website... I now hate to look at it because I see that I am almost at $6500, still no paint. But, on the positive side, I could drive it as a daily driver if I leave the toolbox closed and/or weld the hood shut. A very fast daily driver with decent gas mileage (20mpg), for $6500 ain't too bad. I could also rattle-can it and make it all one color if I got too worried about the paint...
Yeah and considering what you have to pay to get a car that will actually be a future collectible, such as a Mustang Gt, you have to be looking closer to 30K yeah, otherwise you basically just have a run of the mill. in other words that Grand Am my wife bought will be basically worthless 30 years from now.
Anytime I've sat down and tried to figure it up my head starts to hurt after about a minute so I just quit.
I have more money invested in tools than I do in the whole car. I also think that $20k for a car that you think is perfect is a hell of a deal.
I've got my recipts from ebay on stuff I bought there, but a lot of my stuff is taken from parts cars, so I have no real good way to put a value on that stuff. I plan to add it all up one of these days and see if I got out as cheap as I think I did.
Now I am leaning toward a 393 stroker in a roller block, with a 6-71 blower... I agree with stepside...many of my parts were traded or gifted (thanks to fan2488 for my recent subframe connector addition ). It would be hard to put a price on my car. But my web "diary" was just a way for me to keep track of it and not let it get out of hand, plus, I had just learned to use HTML and didn't have any interesting topics to make a website about, and the Maverick magically came into my life right then.
