I want a set also for a Comet. Has anyone heard anymore about them. I'm leaving to get out of the heat wave for a few days. :)

    Don,

I'm still fighting for time to work on them. I have the materials, and my paperwork is in order. I made a nice spreadsheet to track orders so I don't get messed up and ship all of them to Gene...

I am planning to spend Saturday and Sunday in the shop, so hopefully I can get some work done on the seals. Sorry for the delay, I appreciate your patience. :Handshake

Today I finished up my jig. :yahoo: I should be able to start knocking out the first 10 pairs tomorrow.

I also painted a seal using the SEM vinyl products. Here is how the Shadow Blue turned out. I think it looks awesome. A little darker than the original blue, but who knows how many shades of blue the original had faded to. It is placed next to my first test seal, which is the unpainted black. I have gotten much better at making the corners. So, I can officially say that the seals can be painted any color available through SEM's vinyl paint series.

Stay tuned for the For Sale thread where the first 10 pair will be available. :thumbs2:

What are you gluing them with? Maybe get some "panel adhesive" that'll bond them for life.

I am using cyanoacrylate. Or, basically super glue. It is what the seal manufacturer recommended to me to use. I have tested to see how much effort it takes to separate a corner. It can be done with a "normal" amount of pressure, but what happens is the foam and vinyl tear apart before the glue gives. So it boils down to the strength of the seal, which fails before the glue does. That was one of the things I was worried about, but in my opinion the corners are very sturdy.

I have installed and removed the same seal many times (about 12 times so far), going back and forth between sides, and the corners have yet to give. They will last, as long as you don't use them as a tow rope or a tire swing.

The panel adhesive you are talking about I think is called Landau adhesive? I looked into it, but I was referred to simply super glue by the manufacturer. So that is the way I went.
