I can relate to that. Only so much extra money to go around my interests and kids. Only had my boat out fishin twice this year due to car funds. Being able to create a nice car on a budget is very impressive. Its takes some serious involvement and extra time put in to save costs whether it be on labor or parts that you can resurrect.
Your car looks really good. Anyone can go and order a crap load of new parts and sign a cheque for labor. Your going to be very proud of that car I can tell you that for sure.

dont worry gene the car will look righteous when im done. i hope, but it will look good and i will be proud because i did it mostly myself with the help of a few good freinds.
just didnt realize it needed so much work. i thought it would be a simple rebuild.Ha

and it will be amazing to you when you get done how you really know every inch of the car. I have redone mine twice now, the last time fairly deep into it and I know every flaw (which is many), every inch of my car, as will you.
To get off topic for a second, I agree to a degree with Dave, it would be really cool to drop off 60-80 grand and a maverick to a auto restorer and ask when you can pick it up  but there is no true love for that car. When you have put blood, sweat, tears, beers, coffee and many 16 hours days on it, (atleast I feel) that you have a bond with the car......especially if you are doing it for you. If your doing it to turn, then thats totally different.

That's the best thing about Mavericks/Comets, no one would ever do that, they are mostly cars that are built by their owners (97% of the time). Which is awesome!
I've enjoyed following the build on this purple Mav, and the others.(y)
But, if I could..I'd love to order a truck load of parts for my cars :D

Nah, no sense of accomplishment if you pay someone else to do all the work.
I should have worded it "Anyone who has enough money......" regardless of mechanical ability can pay for a car to be built.
I would have payed our body shop to do my car if I had that kind of cash lying around. I'm glad I didnt though. Every time I pull the cover off the car I know it looks like it does because I busted my butt on it. :yup:(y)

I agree that hands on is the way to go. If i can do it myself i will, in the end you just feel like you did something and you do feel at one with your Maverick or Comet. (y)

Nothing like the blood, sweat and tears of doing whatever YOU can do yourself. When it can't be done, it's also nice to know fine folks like BluGene, who has contributed MUCH to my project. The pride comes from the effort, and your excellent work shows. (y)
