AMEN to that. If I had a RWD SR20DET/5 speed laying around, you can bet your a$$ I'd stuff it into a Maverick, or at least try to. Hell I've even thought about making my '74 Grabber FWD and using the engine, trans and front suspension out of a wrecked '89 Accord I have sitting around.

You can be as loud as you want, but fast is where it's at. Tractors are loud, but are they cool?

I love to ready these debates. I have a friends who is diehard ford guy,he even has ford tat on one arm & a v8 ford emblem on the other. He hates seeing other motor options in fords of any kind. But had to laugh when at a car show he saw a ford motor in a corvette. And said now that's cool!!:hmmm: In my op only the true muscle cars should have what they came with like you don't put a 454 chevy in a 69 GTO. Or putting a 5.0 in a 69 428 cobra mustang. Now that stuff is way out of line.:naughty: that's just me :D

i like hard core modding anyway it comes. i had a sr20det that almost saw the bay of my 70 2door. too bad rita ruined both. lol. BUT i rather ford in ford, gm trash in gm trash, so on and so forth.

i agree w mark though, a jap motor in a american car would be like if the iraqies would have a bad aZZ motor...(yeah right) and we were "rodding" that around? i get it.

id much rather see a SHO in a mav!!!! or a cosworth!!!!!, but at the end of the day NOTHING would sound better than a FAT solid lifter FE and long tubes... PERIOD.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
but you did bring up the mustang in F&F ;) and just to stick to the hollywood story... were would you find parts for a 289 in japan in one day?

now lets not forget all the SCAT Cranks, Eagle Rods, Chome Valve covers and Air cleaners that are made in good old R.O.C. or China (for you non ed-u-mah-kaed people, China and Taiwan are differant. oh an them japanese are differant too. er i mean "dem japs.") on that all American Motor now! ;)

again no harm no foul or anything personal but i just like the debate. :p ;)

Jamie, don't post that I told you that I would like to put a 4-cylinder Japanese diesel in a 4-door Maverick for daily commuting. My feelings might get hurt.

    NOT!!!!!!!
