Its as safe as anything else. There is always that chance of trouble. Just read the post about the board member that had their car vandolized at home. I do not think anybody or their property is every completely safe...you just never know :(

But as mentioned....I have wore many hats in my life :tiphat: .....and the past 5 years at the Round-up, its been 3rd shift parking lot patrol :D with a few co-patrollers :dancingpa I am sure this year will be no different.

    Rick,

Before I bought one of those expensive "boots", I'd go to the pound and get the mangiest, meanest looking dog that they've got and put him in there. Every time you stop for gas, get him a chicken nugget happy meal, and let HIM stay with the car all night! :D :D That, or get you a burlap sack with 4 or 5 of them texas rattlers in it! My guess is that you wouldn't have ANY problems! :yikes: :yikes:

    Later,

Most hotels have semi-truck parking......Park there....I would leave the trailer connected to your tow rig regardless where I parked. I also would invest in a traceable toungue lock just in case you do have to seperate your trailer....just my:2cents: ....Goodluck on the trip and I hope to see ya there

    Thanks for the advice guys.

If my budget allowed it, I'd get this "bolt-cutter proof" chain and lock combo:

4 FT of 12mm Sqare Bar Chain + Lock $149.95

    http://www.lockitt.com/chain3.htm

I might have to look for a similar setup
locally - hopefully "less expensive" (as opposed to 'cheaper').

P.S. My friend and I cut a deal on his trailer last night.

    It's a used Big Tex 70DM - 18' Diamond Plate Deck, w/Spare and Tie-downs for $1,700.00. Less than 2,000 miles on it.

I priced a one new yesterday. Drive-out was $3,450.00  (trailer only - no spare or tie-downs)

From what I hear from others, they are very good trailers (heavy duty construction, undercoating, automotive quality paint, etc., even has chrome wheels. Bling! )

Wow, you stole that thing. I've got the same trailer and I love it. My wife even likes the way it pulls...can't tell it's back there.

Ray, from what I understand, because the price of steel is UP now, so are the prices of new trailers.

My buddy just got burned out on drag-racing. 'Sold his race car a few months back and doesn't have a use for the trailer anymore.

He definetly gave me a break on the price too. I'd do the same for him - he's good folk.

    You STOLE that trailer.

Very high quality trailer. There are dealers up here that drive all the way to Texas and bring them back here to sell.....they are that good.

Wow. I'm feeling gooder and gooder about this deal.

FWIW, there is another used one here in Houston for $1,500.00 (no spare or tie-downs / 2000 model). I haven't seen it personally, but it sounds like it's in very good shape also.

"Chris" at 281-351-8294 if anyone is interested.

'Wish I could haul two trailers - I'd bring it up to KY for somebody!
