I bought a 1970 typr NW torino in 70, new. Mine was the grabber green which was called washington green. I understand there were very few made and they were only sold in Oregon, Washington and Alaska, and only in 3 colors, orange, green and blue. Mine also had the 351 with the bench seat. Nice car but it needed disc brakes. After the brakes got warm it was real hard to stop. I like the look of the twister mav though. My car was made in KC so I could put one of those decals on mine.

    There were
99 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Twister Specials and they do have a Twister on the quarter panel They were all drag pack cars and all in Grabber Orange. They came with 428 Super Cobra Jets or 351 and were made with both automatics and 4 speed trans. There were Torino Twister Specials too.
go to http://www.twisterspecialregistry.com/ to read the details. There were not any Maverick Twister Specials..

I have seen one Twister Mustang personally in my life. When I was senoir in high school in 1979 there was this girl who transferred from California to our school in NC and she had one as her first car. It was the yellow orange color as shown in the picture posted here of the one and it had the Twister decal on the quarter panel, rear window louvers and the 351 with auto trans, no shaker hood option. All of us gear heads that hung out at the back of the parking lot with our cars, liked it but we had never seen or heard of such a type Mustang, Shelby and the California Specials yes but a Twister? So we questioned her on the car, she knew nothing about it except it was a car her father had bought for her just before she moved to NC. I do know for a fact that it was all original and had never been tampered with, she did not even know how to check the oil in it. She inventually sold the car a few years later when she got married, the guy she married called it a red neck car and said she should be driving a 280Z not an old Mustang. Lost track of it after that. Still it was a very nice car at the time, low mileage, no rust, never been wrecked. Would have been a good deal but none of us had extra money at the time to buy a second car. We could hardly afford to keep gas in the ones we had.
