I have been in car shows from Ohio to Indiana to Germany. I have shown my trucks after competing with them in the mud. (LOTS of quick cleaning). I have judged trucks and cars in many shows. I have been attacked by the owners because of how the car was judged and how they thought they were better then I judged them. However, the best was when I was second guessed by a winner. I refuse to judge a car as low as 51. Our system uses 100 points, and with three winners, and they are generally clearly the best car/truck, there is no difference between three cars in the 90's beating all the others in the 80's or if they beat the others in the 50's. To score a car so low is an insult to the owner. It either shows a comtempt for the car by the judge, or a comtempt for the owners by the sponsors of the event. I would write a nicely worded letter to the event organizers, and perhaps they will review the criteria and instructions they give their judges. Finally, yes the judges will bump up the points toward their favorites, but to openly display such contempt is unacceptable.

Anyone have a link to show exactly what a scoring sheet would look like at a car show?

I have judged in shows and I will never do it again. Everybody is too competitive. Face it, very few shows will allow an economy 4 door sedan from the seventies beat out a 60s musclecar. That's just the way it is, and I think the masses probably want it that way too. Otherwise people will bring mint Escorts and win the trophys.

I like your car, but you shouldn't worry about points. It's all a matter of taste.

Hey, just go to the shows and have fun. It's cool just to look at all of the other cars and B.S. with everyone there. YOU enjoy your car and that's all that really matters. I've never won any trophies with my car and really don't care if I ever do. All of the great comments I get from folks at shows & even just around town are all the trophies I need. (y)

I have to agree with Maine Mav. Just go to the shows & have fun. I love the comments I get from people. I love talking about my car & what I've done to it. That's all I need. As long as people keep coming up to me & saying "You don't see these anymore" or "I use to own one of these, wish I still had it". That's all I need. Just go & have fun. I've never won any trophies & probably never will. Who cares, I'm there to let them see a car that they don't see much of anymore. I'm proud of my Comet & I just show it, to show it. My passion is cars. I love seeing what else shows up. Sometimes I get good ideas for mine. So, just enjoy your car & have fun.

51 points at the Roundup would get you "Best of Show" The way we judge cars at the Roundup is by looking at 5 catagories with a possible 10 points in each. Interior, exterior, underside, trunk, and engine. There is no catagory for number of doors.

Plus...at the Round-Up.....everybody who enters gets an award.....and they are all the same size....from best of show down to seventh place. And the awards are only about 6 1/2% of what goes on at a Round-Up.

No offense but there's no way in hell that a 4-door Maverick (or any Maverick) is in the same category as a Olds 442 convertible. Whatever you're smokin' I want some...

I wouldnt say that, My 77 once got put in a class with two Tonino Cobra Jets at a local Ford dealer show. Both were nicer cars in my opinion but my little Mav took first. It was participant voting.

Apparently you were talking about how the show catagorizes them. What I was saying is that there is NO comparison between a 4-door Maverick and an
Olds 4-4-2 when it comes to worth, collectibility, and performance. I wasn't talking about the car show as you were. It just seems ridiculous for a car show to lump such completely different cars into the same category like that. Any Olds 4-4-2 in the same condition as your Maverick would fetch at least 4 times the money and out-perform it without breaking a sweat. there's simply no comparison. I'm not slamming you OR your car, just stating a fact. Remember, I'm a Maverick enthusiast and I'm not here to insult people or talk trash about their cars...

teecee, you put your car in a show of public display and asked people to judge it. You might wanna reconsider doing that again if your going to be sensitive about it. It's not a consipiracy against you ar your car. Face it, you will get far more sympathy here than any other place. If you posted a thread complaining about a points total for a big bumpered 4 door maverick at any other board, you would be laughed right off. That's just the way it is.
