According to the Owner's Manual, the 1972 Mavericks and Comets have a 15 gallon tank.

So I finally had the Ignition Coil replaced with an MSD 8202 Red Blaster 2 from JEGS and I also changed the fuel filter to the metal one suggested from Summit Racing. It turned out that the original Ignition Coil was leaking and that's what it really was! This is where I mounted the new one and yes there are a few things changed but that was a while back so thank you to those who contributed in helping me solve the problem I had!

Glad u figured it out. I would consider installing some kind of shroud over that fan. Also, don't stand in line w/ that fan and rev the engine high, they have been know to explode. Wide decision, changing that plastic filter.

No it was NOT the a fuel leak but an oil leak from the ignition coil! I will buy a shroud to cover the fan but right now im concentrated on school and really don't have the money to buy it yet! Also what did you mean buy explode? And why would what ever you are talking about explode?

speaking of the...flexfan...they get stress cracks and come apart...not good if looking under the hood at that time.

Ohh, I didn't know that! I never overkill the engine any ways but it is good to know that so i'll probably buy the shroud sooner! Still i'm a bit shocked because it was advertised that it can with stand over 10000 RPM; i'll still be careful though!

Ok on being in school! I understand. Frank answered the question on the exploding fan "blade ejecting from hub".
I mentioned the fan shroud basically from a safety perspective; the shroud will basically improve cooling efficiency, not keep the fan from exploding. You have to be extremely carefully working around a spinning fan, very easy to loose concentration for an instant and loose a limb, or worse. The shroud improves cooling efficiency "if installed properly" and offers some measure of safety as far as getting caught up in a spinning fan. Just be careful working around the car till u can make a change.
I see ur car has a Illinois plate, what part of the state do u reside?

I know the shroud won't offer too much protection but it will prevent some parts from flying far and maybe slow it down IF that ever happens! I also live in the small city of Glendale Hts. near Glen Ellyn!

I don't have a shroud either, but my fan sits a bit above the radiator, not sure why, but I would have to fab a custom shroud. Probably go to a new radiator with an electric before I do that...

    Hey Jony:
Frank's advice about the "flex fan" is right on !! I had a friend here in Florida that lost his life when the blades came off the fan on his 71 Grabber..He had the hood up and was "timing" the engine when it occurred.. The fan blade struck him in the neck and couldn't get aid in time. His wife still has the Grabber and you can bet the fan is not a " flex " . Not trying to alarm you .. but DITCH the flex fan for something else. There are other "safer"alternatives you can employ.

So I just searched up some pics of cracked flex fans and was worried seeing how some ended up especially since i'm not the only one who goes under the hood. I rarely have the hood open but when I do it is to check on whatever I replaced is fine! I don't know if I can return it because I bought the fan and spacer a while back maybe a few months ago! one way or the other I will find another and replace it! Any recommendations?

As long as you don't rev the engine or stand in it's direct path you should be OK till you can replace it.
Personally, I changed to electric fan which is much safer from the standpoint of sticking limb/finger etc. in it's path. If I were to stay w/ my OE 7 blade fan "which I still have", I wud put a shroud on it and stay w/ that. I lot of guys here go w/ electric setups from Ford Taraus and other Ford products w/ 2 spd fans. I went w/ a Flex-A-Lite aftermarket setup and made my shroud from some scrap metal.
