Can't be no worse then the people here who try to sell a set of $10 Maverick tail lights for $35 or a $50 6 cylinder carburetor $150. How about a $15 bell housing for $60? I'll never forget the $6,000 rust bucket Comet... Opps, I forgot. We can't talk about them. cough ... cough ...
Perhaps this will clear the air. Some time back a few things happend. "OldGuy" left the board(which I am still about) over some remarks made about an ad he placed in the Forsale Forum. While I didn't personally see any reason to leave, he did, and we are none the better for it. I miss his wisdom. He was great for racing instruction and mavericks in general. I hope he makes a come back although we may have to start chanting "OLdGuy" in a Rocky type manner Secondly, There was a rusted out POS comet (yes I agreed with everybody else) and he was asking way too much(again I agreed) Where I disagreed was with the way it was handled by some members. They basically bashed him in a very impolite way(which isn't typical of this site) never the less it happend. The Admin(feel free to step in any time Stefan if I misrepresent here) is in no way shape form saying you can't voice your opinion just use some tact when doing so. If you ask questions it helps root out the the following, tire kickers, thieves, over priced parts/cars. Having said that market will always dictate price, Always has and always will. Keep On mavericking. No replies needed here just clearing the air.......
Actually the Falcons transmission has an unsycnroized 1st gear so you cant down shift while moving, unless your an old fart like me that grew up on them. Double clutch baby!!!
The problem is the prices they are listing are twice as much as market is dictating. They just want to throw it out there to see if they can get some sucker. Anyways, sorry, didn't mean to bring it back up.
Some members feel that they should be able to ask as much as they believe their item is worth, while others feel it is necessary to put a price cap on items for sale. The thread in particular had an overpriced rust bucket and people kept bashing the seller and 1badmav asked memebrs to stop it. This added fuel to fire which generated some heated replies. As an admin, I try to please everybody but cant and often end up in a lose lose situation as this was the case.
Back on topic, I'm still waiting for the guy with the factory four speed, Overhead Cam Cleveland powered '68 prototype Maverick to drop back by the shop. (was was going to be by in an hour or so about two years ago).
