The speed limit was 45. Both of our lights were green. I looked a couple of times, no one was there. Started makeing my turn and BAM! I just really have a hard time believeing I didn't see something as big as a Lincoln Navigator. Kryssie says the same thing, she didn't see a thing until right before he smacked into us. He just came out of no where. There was one witness I don't know what she told the cop.

Art, your right. It is like looseing an old friend. I just can't believe it. I keep thinking I can look out the window and it will be sitting there looking normal. But nope.

I actually had to unbolt the hood to get it off. It is not hurt that bad and will go on the red car. Same with the grill. The passenger hood hinge actually broke. The steel part of the motor mount on the passenger side where it bolts to the engine is smashed like swiss cheese.

My dad has known a guy that runs a shop that fixes alot of wrecks and has a frame machine and stuff. I am going to see about talking to him. He was ready and willing to fix my dad's old '95 Mustang GT when it got hit head on and basically smashed the wheels to the front of the doors. If he could fix that, I don't see why my car would be any harder. We'll see what happens.

Terry, maybe I will come down there this weekend and see what you got.

That really sucks! If any of my cars got hit like that, I'd be sick also. Hope everything turns out alright...

get that hand looked at immediately... it will only get worse and if you have broken fingers and they arent set right away, you can loose dexterity in them..

as far as the car goes, play taps... use it as a parts car... it looks why too far out.. especially since the passenger side shock tower is resting on the engine block.. you could cut the front off and get a mustang II front on it... thats about the only option that i can see.

you mentioned a shop fixing it.. maybe,.. but it comes to money.. the insureance company might give you 800 for the car totalled... if you fix it.. it will have a salvaged title.... and if you get into an accident with it again.. it will not be covered... most insurance companies wont insure a salvaged title..
you could always pay for the car yourself and save the salvaged title... but repairing that car.. 2000-3000 at least

glad nobody was hurt seriously.. but get yourself taken care of... and if that guy was doing 60 while raining, he will be at fault for not driving safely and not driving the condition of the road.. sounds to me like he was in a hurry to get to work and i would get a lawyer...

seriously.. get a lawyer.. no matter the costs.. it could mean all teh difference in the outcome .. that guy has a nice car and in his 50's i Guarantee he will have a lawyer...
and try and pin it all on you

Jamie; sorry to hear about the wreck! Listen, don't admit fault, or even talk to anyone until you talk to either a lawyer or YOUR insurance company. Sounds like you and Krissie are going to need some medical attention, so get that done immediately. If there is anything we can do to help, just give us a ring.

Jamie, first and formost let me say how thankful I am that you and your girlfriend were not hurt worse than you were. Secondly, get you fingers x-rayed. You won't be fixing much of anything with broken fingers. As for the car, both me and my hubby studied the pictures and if it were our car, we would definitely fix it. From what we can tell just from the photos, it looks like the fender, inner skirt and the shock tower took the worst of the hit. The frame could be pulled back into place which will pull everything else back into place too. The rest is replaceable parts. The big thing is how much can you afford to sink into the car to fix it again? It won't be a cheap fix, but it can be done. Have a good bodyman check the car over from top to bottom and take it from there. In the mean time, I would write down absolutley every detail of the accident as you remember it so you can prepare for your day in court. By doing that all the details will stay fresh in your mind. Don't leave anything out. Right now the car can wait. Your injuries and a possible court case are more important right at this moment.

Sorry to hear about that Jamie. I got hit in my front fender of my Maverick when I first started driving. My fender and door were pretty messed up. They were going to total mine but my parents helped me out and got them to pay for a Macco fix back then. My front clip was not pushed around like yours though. Good luck and get your medical needs looked into so they get covered under insurance.

I am glad you and your girl friend was safe. I have a similiar story but less damage. SUV owners run around like they own the road:mad: . I was backing out of a parking spot checked both ways twice. then used my mirrors to back out. Entances are a good 125 feet away. This lady had to come through the lot at a good 40mph plus. I barley caught a glimpse of her in my mirror as I backed into her. I caught her rear wheel. and quarter panel. So long story short I got my first "accident" after 12 years of driving. My insurance advised me to not admit guilt but would settle out of court as they said I would likely loose in court. Regardless she was driving way to fast and caused the accident.

Sorry about your car. I love driving mine and have had a few moments I thought would end the trip I have every time I drive the "Badmav" I will keep those to myslef though as they would have been my own stupidity:D

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
glad you ok dude! that really sucks! but i must say that car held up really well considering it was a big tank that hit you... if you were in a sentra or a civic it would have been worse!

a word of advise.. get every thing documented.. with your doctor, tow costs.. everything! in fact see the doctor today if you can.. don't wait! if you have witnesses get them! though people seem nice at the time of the accident that all changes when lawyers and the court gets involved.. its every man for himself. i been there and have gotten way screwed!

i hope you get better and glad your ok!

    Man...

That's a tough break Jamie. I think everyone here hopes it all works
out for you. I'd think about using the '74 as a parts car now. Move
the good stuff over to the red one and get attached to it. You'll be
surprised how fast the new one will take you over. Good luck.

    Jamie,
OUCH, your fingers could be broken and yet you type to let us know what happened? there is some really good advice by the others. i can guarantee the insurance will want to call it a total, its a given on old vehicles. but you dont have to accept that and can fight that fight if you have to when the time comes and win. first and foremost though, take care of yourself and your friend. the car has a safe place to stay and you can get to it when your ready, that will give you some time to deal with the accident and your injuries. take your time, no hurries.

I'm glad you two weren't seriously hurt! Cars/parts can be replaced, you and your girlfriend as well as the other driver are much more important...

Hey Jamie, glad to here that neither of you were seriously injured. Get that hand checked out soon. I broke all the toes on my right foot once, and the doctors just taped them together, and had to were a goofy shoe for a while. Fingers usually heal pretty quick. For the car, you might want to think on parting it out. The body might be pretty tweaked. You could always use the red one.
