Yea Ray, it really sucks. I've been feeling pretty depressed all day. Just gotta keep on keeping on. I'm going to get the red '72 on Thursday and I will start swapping stuff over. The engine out of Dan's Yellow '74 and the rebuilt trans with the shift kit will now be going into the '72 instead. I'll swap over the entire brakes and steel lines off the '74 since they are all almost new.

I actually put a spare wheel on and drove the car down to the turn around in my neighborhood and back just to drive it one more time before it gets put up for a few years and to turn the milage over to 201,000. It wasn't even a quarter mile from turning. Needless to say, it drives a little crooked. ;) The engine has something very wrong. It just blows clouds of smoke out the exaust and idles rough. It is holding a steady 50 psi of oil pressure though as... "usual" :(. I think the block must be cracked somewhere.

If I rebuild it, it WILL have a Mustang II front end. :) And it will never be a daily driver again. I'll get some old rusty Mav that dosen't matter to drive daily. I have 2 parts cars, both with better front sub frames then the '74 had before the wreck. The passenger front frame rail was very rusty on the '74 and was going to need replaced anyways. I have all the parts I need to put it back to original, but if I'm going to do that much work I want to upgrade it in some way. :)

Holy cow Jamie! I'm just shaking my head reading about it all! Glad you guys are basically OK but anytime something like this happens it totally sucks for eveyone!

A lot of good advice from everyone about your car and fingers. Really watch that head injury - sleeping all day is part of that!

Take care - tomorrow will be a better day I'm sure. (y)

    Jamie. That's horrible to hear.
Screw the car. Make sure you're okay. Sounds like you're beat up a bit. Take care of yourself and if you need to, get a lawyer to help you through all the court crap. Your insurance company should be able to help you with this.

jamie... who said you ran a red? the other driver or the witness? did you get a ticket for failure to yield?

drive the same direction that guy was... the next time it rains.. and take pictures from the point where you cannot see the intersection.. and take pictures repeatedly until you reach the impact point. this will show the types of driving conditions that were out at the time...

also.. call a lawyer and ask if they have had any accidents at that intersection and see what the outcomes were.. also go to the police department and get a copy of the police report BEFORE the court date. so you know what the cop may have charged you with.. and to see what he put in his investigation..

get the license plate off the SUV and go to the department of transportation and get a report on the company... also try and find out information about the company in the BBB (Better Business Bureau)... this is all to cover your ass, just in case the company has had problems in the past with accidents such as this and to see if this guy has had any other accidents relating to this.... shows a pattern of behavior..

because of your age though, its gonna be a hard fight.. this is why you MUST have a lawyer especially if you think you did nothing wrong.. and from what i have read you say happened, it sounds to me like you did nothing wrong..

good luck.. and ask any questions... chances are with all of us in here.. we will find arguing points and stuff to look at in your benefit..

Jamie, I wrecked my Mav when I was 18. The damage looked similar to yours. I fixed it and still have it. Time and money is all you need. The most important thing is that everyone is unhurt.

Jamie I like your enthusiasm about Mavericks. I also understand your attachment to that car & wanting to fix it weather it makes good business sense or not. I am very glad that you both are OK & I think you will become attached to the 72 as well. Good luck with it.

    Mike:)

Jamie; as bad as it was, it certainly could have been worse. You or your passenger could have been killed. I am just glad that you're going to recover physically, and I hope that you can build another killer Maverick...

If there were any businesses at the intersection, check and see if they had security cameras that could see the road, and try and get a copy of the tapes. It could help you ALOT if he was speeding, especially since it was raining. Glad to hear neither of you were hurt too bad. Theres alot of hard surfaces to bounce off of, especially without modern seatbelts. And like the others said, make sure you get a lawyer. Good luck in court.

Jamie, I just got home and was looking thru what happened this week and found out. Many pieces of good advice here, document everything! Make sure you and Chrissy have the same story....verbotem. If the light was green and you didn't see him untill just before he hit you, he probably was going too fast for conditions. If your lawer can prove that, his insurance will either have to fix or replace your car to YOUR satisfaction. I rear ended a guy with my 84 pickup, he pulled out in front of me from about 50-75 foot, I swerved right to try to avoid him but hit him anyway. Cops wrote it up as his fault, I was too close for him to be pulling out like that. His insurance fixed my truck, the left frame rail was bent and the front cap was pushed right, and I made them paint the entire truck, because it is black and just painting the front cap would have stuck out like a sore thumb. So, maybe it will go in your favor, I hope it does. You remind me of my 18 year old, he's not into Mavericks, but a car guy through and through. Get the medical needs looked after first, then the car needs. Like said before, don't discuss details with anybody but Chrissy, your parents, your insurance, and your lawyer. GOOD LUCK!!! If I can help out any way, let me know.

:D Hey Jamie, if/when you DO fix the frame of that car, you should put a decal on the drivers side door, a silhouette of a Navigator
