I like Phyphor1's idea. Just keep it at only ONE Navigator silhouette!!!

    That sucks!

You may want to get a copy of the other drivers driving record too.

Get a catscan on the old noggins. Brain swelling, minor or major, can cause havoc on a person. ANY head injury needs PROPER and immediate treatment.

It is hard to disprove soft tissue damage in court and it could have happened to you both without even knowing it. In a few years you may notice decreased range of motion that was related directly to this accident. The doctors, hospital or insurance company may tell you or try to prove that there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. And they may even try to convince you of such. NOBODY can tell you that you do not hurt physically!!

BTW - If you would like, you could give me dibs on your Heater controls.

Man, seems like I haven't been on here in forever. I have the '72 now. I will start putting it together Thursday. I have been in NC since Wensday and that is where the '74 is now. The '72 will be a driver, but I don't think it's worth fixing up because of the amount of bondo in it.

The body on the '74 is not tweaked at all, just the front frame rail. I am going to start pulling parts off the '74 Wensday and will post some very detailed pics of the damage in a few days. I want to get an idea of how much money I will have to save to have it fixed. The driver's side frame rail is straight up to the point where the shock tower is. It is about 3 inches off forward of the shock tower. I doubt the passenger frame rail is salvageable. I think it will have to be tottally replaced. It is bent in almost a S shape. The passenger frame rail is bent up into the floor makeing the bench seat sit angeled down towards the driver's side.

So basically the floor boards that needed to be replaced, still need to be replaced. The passenger frame rail needed to be replaced from the front of the shock tower forwards due to rust anyways. So now the entire passenger frame rail will need to be replaced instead of just two thirds of it. A veteran collision repair guy looked at it and said he would just look at this as a good reason to make impovements on the car. It will be back on the road within the next couple of years, more then likely with a Mustang II front end.

It's going to get ugly in court. Very, very ugly. My parents are about to start looking for a lawyer. I have serious doubts at this point that it is going to turn out in our favor. Don't want to mention any of the details at this point, but the bottom line is I turned in front of the guy. If worst comes to worst, we would have to pay a couple of grand out of our own pocket to fix the guys Navigator. It will need a passenger air bag, grill, a few little plastic pieces, and some paint. We'll go down fighting though. I can't remember what they charged me for, I left the damn ticket on the dash of the tow truck when they towed the Mav back to my house. I'm going down to get that tomarrow.

My court date isn't until January 23rd, so I got some time still to get it all worked out.

Anyways, I'm home until Tuesday to get the transmission for the '72 ready to go. Then I gotta swap over all the brakes and everything and get the car on the road. School is takeing a back seat for a couple of weeks, but there isn't really any way around that at this point. School work can be made up.

Ohh, and my fingers and everything seem to be ok now. They are still a little sore, but I can move them and everything now. Kryssie is ok also. We've both just been a little sore. I appreciate all the concern.

72Grabber, the heater controls are destroyed from my hand hitting them. I already have the entire car promissed back to Joey Powell, the guy that had it from '76-'03 if I decide to get rid of it. Said he would rather buy it back from me and put it back out in his field to rust away, then see it get parted out or go to the crusher. No part of the car is for sale.

You can rebuild it... faster, stronger than ever before... as long as you can walk away from the accident.

Don't get too hung up on it, it'll all work out.

First of all, glad you are OK. That's the most important thing.

Secondly, if you have liability, why would you have to pay two grand out of your pocket. The only money you will be paying is for a lawyer and future larger insurance premiums. You would probably save a lot of time and money if you just let the insurance companies sort it out.

You are also correct. You turned in front of him, regardless of the color of the light. That will probably make you at fault. And the judge probably won't believe you if you tell him the guy was doing 60 in one breath and then tell him you didn't see him until the last second in the other. If you didn't see him until the last second, how can you judge his speed?

I did the same thing when I was your age. We didn't go to any Better Business Bureua's or hire any lawyers or private eyes. The insurance companies settled it and we all got on with our lives.

Yeah ... don't worry about repairing the other car ... that is what liability insurance is for ... the only money out of your pocket would be a lawyer if you get one, a ticket if you got one ... and your insurance premiums going up ... :(

The main problem is, someone failed to mention to me the entire time I have been driving that I am not on my parents insurance policy. The car was in my dad's name and he was the only registered driver of it with the insurance company. It's a long story and I'm not going to mention anymore details right now.

The 60 mph came from a woman who was sitting at the red light on the other side of the intersection who witnessed the wreck. I have to go to court on January the 23rd. What ever happens, happens. I'm just ready to get it over with and move on.

I will never buy anything else from Auto Krafters. Took them 5 months to tell me my fuel sending unit was on back order. By then I had already got a parts car which had one that was like new. I told them to shove it. I have 2 parts cars with good front frames and stuff.

DRiving without insurance will not only get you a ticket, your license will probably get suspended, depending on state laws.

Wow, didn't "not having insurance" raise a red flag in your head at some point or another?

    That's scary.

It's pretty obvious by reading his post that he wasn't aware of the fact that he wasn't covered.

"SOMEONE FAILED" to tell you? Are you sure you even have a legal drivers license?

Half the people in Wisconsin do not have car insurance - not required here - we are a scary state for anyone with a nice car! Our uninsured and underinsured coverage is expensive here because of it. Also, cars get insured here and not the drivers. For our insurance, all you need do is cover the car, anyone can drive it and they are covered.

Everyone needs to chill a little on Jamie and let him get this all worked out. :chillpill
