Yeah the real bummers about this is, I am the second owner of this Grabber, I have all the paperwork from the day it was bought new, I was lucky to get it because it was in Indiana and on Craigslist (lucky cuz Craig lives there and would have snapped it up lol) and the three years I have spent working on it is now gone, time you can never recover, the shop was almost finished and I would have painted it at that time, was planning on actually taking it to the Emerald Coast Cruiz-in in November which would have been it's first show, depending on what Hagerty says/does I won't be without a Maverick, I can find another if need be and will, but it's gotta be a Grabber!!
On the other hand I can continue to devote time to the MaviGT build that I have going and at least keep busy until I get another Grabber, the green Grabber is still in Stone Mountain Georgia and he has STILL done nothing to it so I can get it, I may just need to offer him more money for it and get the motor and tranny with it (he wants to pull those before I buy it) but that was and is to be the Green Street Beasts Grabber build and my blue and yellow will not work in it, so that means still another Grabber lol
I am thankful I didn't get hurt, it could have been worse, I also thank all of you for your support, as this is really the time I needed it, it's great to have friends that understand how you feel after something like this happens and you guys/girls have made it easier to deal with, I will hold up my end by letting you know what happens with the insurance and everything.
    Thanks
    Roger

Glad to hear your staying upbeat Roger.
Could always do what the chevelle guys do and use the vin plates and info off this grabber and graft them onto a standard base model, thus virtually restoring the grabber.
I have seen this done more than a few times on other cars as well, but the Chevelle Super Sport crowd to it more than not.

As you may have already guessed it gets worse, I got the accident report yesterday and found out she has been driving around for months with an expired registration, it expired on 07/22/2011, in addition her drivers license was suspended on 02/22/2012, why she did not go to jail is beyond me, now that the holiday is over maybe I can get something moving on this, still waiting on Hagerty to contact me which should be today, I sent them a copy of the accident report yesterday.

as long as you have good insurance and not found to have any fault your insurance should take care of every thing.
if she has any assets any decent lawyer will be all over suing her. sense she doesnt have insurance she is liable to pay all damages out of her pocket.
i suspect that she doesnt have any real assets due to not even being able to pay her insurance and registration.

Even if she has no assets, hit her so hard she has to file bankruptcy.

She really looks like the type that would rather go out to the bars and party instead of "wasting" her money on things like insurance and registration, 10 months is a long time to drive around without it, had a much nicer phone than I do and didn't hesitate to walk right into that bar as soon as the cops were done talking to her, on another note Hagerty's adjuster will be out Thursday morning to take a look at the Grabber, she wanted to come out tomorrow but in the afternoon and I said I couldn't be here, I will let ya'll know what goes down.......stay tuned for further developments :D

Keep in mind that if they total it and you decide to keep it they sometimes don't play real nice. They have a tendency to offer it back at 50% of the insured value. If this happens, it is very negotiable. If you don't want to keep it then no big deal. It can normally be bought back for about 20% though. I got mine back for 10%. I had to go up the ladder a bit but I wasn't about to fall for the 50% deal. If you have a standard hood this would be a good time for a quick swap out before they get pics. They don't know it has a grabber hood. Good luck dealing with them!

I tell you, it pays to be a BUM!!

The girl that hit me had no license, no insurance, the car wasn't even in her name, the plates were stolen...and she got nothing. If it was me, I'd have a $10000.00 fine, and be in jail ... Plus I had to take a day off work, pay my deductible, and State Farm had to pay to fix my truck, sure I had a judgement against her...but other than that, I've seen nothing, 3 years now....

Don't take the first offer, and once you settle, see if you can buy it back, for parts?

I believe that in Fl law (double-check this please), once they put a car's title into a "salvage" category, it can't ever be registered in the state again.

I have seen plenty of cars listed here at Copart and other places .... very minor damage, easy fixes ... and the only way to get them back into service is to ship them to another state or out of the country after being repaired. Burns me up to see some cars trapped in that category. There is a large export business here, and I think that pushed some of the laws through on this.

The reason why I bring this up, is that, in this case, it may play in your favor. Might help keep the price down if you want to buy it back.

I'm with Ray on this ... get that hood (and whatever else ... ) off before the adjuster gets there. Did the insurance co. ask for pics of the car prior to insuring it?

Yeah they wanted pictures of everything, I have made no repairs to that hood since I got it other than sanding off the surface rust so it's not all that, besides I have two more Grabber hoods that are in much better condition, as for the seats, as you know those are kind of a specialty color combo so someone would pretty much have to want that color combo pretty bad to actually want those seats, the only thing I can't replace on the car is actually the engine, I would never find another one of those down here, but I can always go bigger on engines!!
Just depends on what they do, as to what I do.

As far as the grabber hood goes, the car belongs to you...NOT the insurance company. It doesn't matter if they have pics of it or not. You can mak any modifications to YOUR car you want! They don't know what you did to it or when you did it. The car only becomes THEIRS when they write you that check and collect your title! Of course it's no big deal if you dont want the hood but you can do anything to it you want before they inspect it.

...:hmmm:... then asking them before you take them off would not be a problem...

what you had when the agreed value was put on the car is what they own if totaled out...:yup:
