Every time you make a change to your car...do you call your ins company and ask if it's okay? Have they approved all your mods? To begin with, this car is a work in process and the adjuster most likely knows nothing about a Maverick nor could he care any less.
You can do what you want with the car....before they get there and take pics. It's still YOUR car right now! They don't have a clue as to what was done to it prior to the accident since it was a "work in process".

They're going to pay you based in what they see when they get there unless you have an agreed value already. If the grabber hood adds value to the car then they will pay less if it's not on there. When they give you a price to buy the car back it may work in your favor if it has a flat hood on it.

:hmmm:...so why have an agreed value if you are going to dicker about the price...
why would you want to buy the car back if you have already taken all the useable parts off...

Not dicker on what they pay you for your loss. Dicker about how much they charge you to buy it back. Maybe he will decide not to buy it back. Then he loses a grabber hood (I know he has others), just the point. Not trying to argue, just pointing out there's many ways to go about this.

:16suspect This shows how bad everyone wants a grabber hood.
As that's the core of all the arguing.
I am still glad nobody died, crappy experience for sure though. :(

Exactly! I help my customers "dicker" with their ins companies for salvage value all the time. A lot of folks just dont want to lose their car, even on some newer stuff. The owner always has the right to retain the car and it's the adjusters job to save the company as much money "as possible" which is where the negotiations begin. You may be happy with their first offer, if not, simply tell them it's not good enough.
My "dickering" saved me $4000 when Katrina flooded my car a few years ago. Well worth the effort!!!

I called Hagerty...I suggest anyone wanting to remove parts after a wreck do the same...fraud and claim will be denied...

So you're saying you committed fraud with all the mods you made to your car? Or did you actually document each and everything with your insurance company? It certainly isn't the same equipped car it was when you first insured it with them.
If I decided to put a stock hood on my car right now, there's absolutely nothing the ins company could do about it. It's my car!
And the "dickering" you're talking about had absolutely NOTHING to do with AGREED VALUE! As its been stated...it's all about the salvage value of the car if you want to retain ownership!!! There is NO AGREED VALUE here! How hard is that to understand?
Moneymaker...I apologize for getting involved with your thread here. Was just trying to offer a little help. Some people seem to have other ideas some times but they just have to be overlooked. Good luck on the outcome of your car.

About 10 years ago I was hit in my passenger side rear quarter panel by a lady who decided she didn't want to stop at the stop sign. I had the car towed to my house and the insurance co. came out and looked the car over. They considered it totaled and paid me fair market value for it. I then bought it back from them for $500. We pulled out the panel a bit, went to pick-a-part and got another rim, flipped the fuel shut off switch and drove it for another six years before it finally died. That worked out well for me and I hope your situation goes as smoothly as mine did.

If it is wrote off, in Florida it may as well be stripped for parts, it'll never be able to be titled there again.

I don't agree with the fraud part. You mean to tell me that if you insured your car a year ago, then put brand new wheels worth $1,200 on it last week, and it got wrecked today
Then your brand new wheels belong to the insurance company if they total it??? I don't think so! Nor should the wheels contribute to the amount YOU
must pay to buy the car back. Think about it!

they said at time the...agreed value was set...:yup:

was the hood on the car when it was insured...
what you put on there afterwards...it's up to you to raise the value.
if the car was stolen, all the extras would be lost...(y)

Nope...I simply suggest you re-read the entire thread and let it soak in this time. Some people here try to help others. Other people on here try to pick apart people's threads in any way they can to try to start a controversy. Why...I have no idea. Seems to be a re-occurring problem though. :hmmm:
