I can get it registered in my name so it's road legal but I can't get a title for it. If I had the original title or bought it soon enough to get a replacement title (before it was 36 years old) I could have gotten one but the guy I bought it from didn't have a title, just a bill of sale and I assume it must have sat for a while somewhere until the title was lost before he got it. However, I'm not required to have a title to be able to drive it here, just register it in my name. Have to get it inspected to get it registered. That's the only time you ever have to get a vehicle inspection in Alabama that I'm aware of, if you are registering one more than 35 years old.

Thats an interesting law. How do you prove ownership when you register it if you dont have a title? Here in Jersey you have to have a title in your name before you register it. Then you get it inspected after registration. You can't get inspected without a registration. I wonder if you could find a company (maybe out of Hemmings) that can help you out with what you need for a fee? I know there's people who specialize in this sort of thing.

A simple bill of sale is all you need to register the car from what I've been told by the clerk's office. Haven't tried to register mine yet b/c gotta get the brakes finished, at least the front seat back in and working seat belts (mine were dry rotted when I bought the car). I feel sure they will check the VIN to see if the car has been reported stolen when they register it but other than that there are no other requirements that I know of. Oh, must have insurance on the car of course, and it must not create a hazzard on the roads, but as far as I know that's it.

DDB, thank you for the link to the regulations in my state,(washington) that was a big help! the only thing that I read that I didnt like was where the state patrol said they dont accept reciepts for repair parts from ebay or internet sales...heck the internet is the best source there is for finding maverick parts these days, I find it hard to belive I cant internet order a part and have it shipped to my house and the state patrol saying thats not acceptable!sorry all for being off topic from the original post!

Hi Terry, so far they have been very nice and polite about it, got a nice little card in the mail from the lady handeling my claim telling me sorry for the accident and that she would be working quickly to resolve any problems that arise from it, included name and phone number if I had any questions, yes it was agreed value on the Grabber, the waiting is the hardest part.

Yeah Frank I had to pay out of pocket because the cops called the tow truck, I had to get the rear of it off the road so they could leave the scene, But I will be reimbursed for the tow :D.

I have done business with them for about 7 years and they have been great and very friendly,I just wondered if they stayed that way once money was involved, thank goodness I have never had to put in a claim...I have a 68 super bee, a fiat spyder 2000,and a vw bug insured thru them currently and I hope to soon insure my 77 maverick but my maverick is going to have a salvage title so it wouldnt suprise me if they say they dont insure salvage vehicles....

Well dang :badwords: (you all know what that means) the adjuster just left, seems they had camera failure and had to come back for some more shots, still waiting for Hagerty to call :banghead:
On another note I called the guy in Georgia about the green Grabber I am waiting on, told him what happened and that we need to escalate/expidite the deal on his Grabber ASAP, now just waiting on a call from him also :banghead: gonna punch a hole in this brick wall with my head yet!!
