You know though there is a funny side to all of this, most my neighbours have not seen the car until I started to uncover it for the insurance company to take photos, so far I have had three or four come flying by the driveway only to slam on the brakes and back up for a double take of the car, remember this is a dirt road so they really slide when they hit the brakes hard, one of em's gonna wind up crashing into the ditch if they keep it up, got my cameras pointing in the right direction too.
Really though the adjuster that came out the first time did have a camera issue and stated so at the time, the second adjuster to come out (today) said he had a Grabber just like mine that his sister wrapped around a tree while it was supposed to be in storage untagged and uninsured, he was in another state and they didn't tell him about it for two months, he put the pics of mine on his lappy desktop screen.

Ok Hagerty called today, they are going to pay the claim, they will call me Tuesday with a buy back price (the adjuster has requested a bid on it I guess from salvagers) if I agree with the buy back price they will just take it and my deductable out of the claim payment and send me the rest, I told her if the price was reasonable to me I would buy it back, also she said if I did buy it back it would have to be retitled as a salvage vehicle as there is more damage than previously thought, I don't have a clue what I would be willing to give them for it, the interior, engine and tranny is about all thats left and even some of the interior is damaged (kick panels on drivers side, package tray, door panel) I don't trust that any of the new front end components I put on are good anymore, nor do I trust that the rearend is good, I think the axel on the drivers side is bent, of course none of the Weld Draglites are any good nor the tires for that matter, the good thing is the windows are all good with new gaskets front and back but as you know there is no guarantee I can remove them without breaking them and cutting the gaskets defeats the reason for keeping them, I guess this weekend will be spent sitting down and thinking about the buy back price I am willing to pay.

I bought another Maverick with that engine already transplanted in it for $600.00, swapped it into mine and put my 250 I6 in the other Maverick and sold it for $400.00, I didn't build the engine so I am not aware of the internals, but it ran damn good with no noises, very strong 289.

yea, just keep in mind how much your time is worth removing any parts you would save,or how much any usable parts would be worth as far as selling them, who knows what parts your next Maverick might need...I think I would only buy back a vehicle if I intended fixing it or if I had big bucks in the drivetrain I couldnt get back by any other means than to keep it, also where I live its hard to get rid of a hulk if its been already stripped, sometimes the salvage places dont think its cost effective to come haul away a vehicle if all the good or heavy stuff is already gone, then you end up stuck with a yard ornament! That's kinda what I had in mind too. Try to get it back for no more ban $500. Maybe even start at $300 and go up if you have to. They definitely aren't going to get much for it. I'd give $500 for it in a heartbeat.

V8 swap parts cost $250 or so when needed. so it would be well worth buying back if ou are going to build other cars that might need it. Add in the engine and all the little things on and around the engine that would be needed later and it adds up quick if you were to do a v8 swap later.
