yep, let it go, my current maverick is an optioned out V8 model I bought at the insurance auction, usaa totaled it and it had very little damage to it, and was a driver and I got it for $1000, im sure you must be attached to it and you should counter offer for $500 but if that wont buy it wave bye bye!

Just spoke with the adjuster, she stated that the buyback bid is non negotiable and she has a bid for the $1800.00 in on it as of now, I won't pay that kind of money so I said send me my $9,500.00, thats $10,000 agreed value minus my $500.00 deductible, so it's going bye bye to someone who is paying WAYYYYY too much lol.

with structural damage like that i wouldn't think twice about it.
plus you still have the $450 for the louvers from me. So it's nearly 10k you can invest in a new car - that should give you a comfortable place to start!

Well you see it's like this, I paid $600.00 for the engine and tranny thats in it, I have about the same amount in the interior, that's about all thats left of the car and some of the interior is damaged now, I can't reuse the headliner or door panels and the chances of getting out the front and back glass without breaking them are about 50/50, I can buy another 1971 Grabber and am going to, and already have alot of things for it and the build I will do, I just can't see paying $1800.00 for the motor and a few interior pieces, I sent the title to them today so they can send me the money and get it out of my way.....I have another Grabber to build.

You have a $500 deductible? My Grundy insurance is agreed value no deductible. NADA. Nothing.

I do need to up mine. $6500 is too low now.

I would if I could but it falls right into the EAA AirVenture week again - our busiest week of the year. Last year was awesome and I'd love to get back and see everyone again and spend more time at the museum.

    :thumbs2:

I wrote estimates for the dealership body shop for many years. Some insurance companies have contracts with salvage dealers where they agree to buy all the company's salvage vehicles (in a given area) for a set percentage of the market value. There is no cherry picking, so they lose on some and hit a home run on others, but it all evens out. It makes a lot less work for the insurance company.
