Just got back from the Daytona Dream Cruise.....2000 cars, perfect weather, and 1296 miles on the Mav without a hitch. Life is good!

Definitely sounds like the steering wheel lock is in the way. Wiggle the wheel back and forth and try to turn the key. if the lock is stuck in place try removing the steering wheel and turn signal switch to get to the lock rod and move it. If its still stuck you will have the wheel out of the way already to remove the lock cylinder. Look up the procedure and find pictures on how to remove the lock cylinder and what to push on to release it. You may have to break out the key tumbler with a screwdriver but replacements are readily available.

I agree, removing the steering wheel will make trouble shooting a lot simpler...:yup:

the steering wheel lock is just a plunger. it may not be able to return on its own.(stuck)

Removed a soaked, wadded up TOWEL from inside the charcoal canister. :banghead: For a minute, the temptation to call up the guy I bought it from and ask what that was about was overwhelming. But it passed. ;) I would have done more, except the battery died overnight. First night at home and she's already being temperamental. Tisk tisk.

I think I might have cooked the right rear in a one wheel burnout. :burnout: Later on, the tread separated as I was coming home from the MCC gathering. But, it gave me an excuse to get the new wheels and tires I've been putting off.

Anyway, be careful with the one wheelers.

Took my argon bottle to get refilled so I can patch my lower quarters this winter while the car is in hibernation.
