'71 comet with an I6 200. $400. rough interior and some front end damage. other than that nothing wrong with it at all. If i can find a new grille and straighten or replace the hood all it really needs is new upholstery and a new paint job.

    then possibly an engine upgrade.

Mine was originally $1,000 in 03. It`s still pretty much the same as when I got it except for wheels/tires and paint. Iv`e done most of the normal maintenance items a few times and had the original C4 rebuilt. Great car,I wouldn`t be afraid to go anywhere in it.:thumbs2:

Bought my '75 Comet last month for $2500. Has no bondo or dents, runs great and has a great interior. I do have some rust issues that will need to be addressed in the future but after looking at several other Mavs and Comets I think I got a good deal.

I bought mine 4 weeks ago for 2k. It is a 1977 2dr, 250ci, at, 123k miles. Light yellow with a dark green vynil top, 1 owner car that was bought new here in town. It has disc brakes, power steering, no rust, strait body and excelent interior. Bench seat, am radio, everything works. I put american torque thrust D wheels and new tires on it, new KYB shocks, new radiator, tune up,and the usual maintenance. The car was always garage kept and serviced regularly. I tried out one in 1970 but bought a torino instead. It was time.

My first one was a 73 Comet, Red 2dr. with an LDO package, black interior, High-back buckets seats, 302 car. Not alot of rust...Asking price... $1500. Paid $300. Drove it home, almost mint interior...
Second car was a 73 maverick Red, with rebuilt 302. It was in good condition & paid $750... Drove it for six months, and sold it to a friend for $500. He went on and on about how much he wanted it... then about two months later, in turn gave it away, it had old original 5 slot Oval mags & a pair of air shocks on it. I could not believe that.

Then there was a 33,000 mile Comet that I bought off of this old guy, for $750. It was a 73 4dr. with 302. Absolutely mint car. I had forgot about buying that one. I just bought it for the parts. I had the radiator stolen out of it, and I could not drive it. I still feel angry about that. The car was absoutely perfect condition. I had removed the rear brake line to put on my first red 2 dr. I did not drive it. I sold it for parts to another collector, for $100. Motor was perfect and it had all good parts on it. NOT an ounce of rust on it, which was a miracle for up here in Canada. I really liked that car, because of how well of condition it was in.
Anyways... moving on.. now I own this 73 brown 2 dr Comet. I paid the most for this one. $3900. It is not LDO, but it had a mint interior when I bought it. that I love, and it has been a great car. It is in good condition. When I found this one, it was so original with like almost no rust. No rust on the under side of the car. No rust under the hood. The car had been in an accident though... the old lady had turned in front of somebody, and got hit on passanger side. It has had passenger side door and quarter repaired. The motor had a burnt valve, but it only had 39 000 miles on the car. I got the heads completely re-done. It purred like a kitten after that. I have collector plates on it and it is only $260 a year to insure. I like that. All in all, some really good times in my comets and Mav.

Picked up my sons 70 Mav with less than 50k original miles for $0! Happened to mention to someone that I was going to build a car for my son's first car and one of the cars I was interested in was a Maverick. He said he pulled the motor and trans from his parents old Maverick to put in his Falcon and that I could have the car, clean title and all, if I wanted it. Needless to say I WANTED IT!

My dad inherited his grandma's Maverick, drove it for 20 years, gave it to my brother, and my brother gave it to me for free :thumbs2:
