I just signed up with Hagerty insurance because I figured I would lose everything if I got into a fender bender. I have around $5000 invested in this (ugly piece of junk) and would hate to have Progressive give me $600. Hagerty asks for pictures and descriptions of modifications, as well as periodic updates, so that they agree with you on the value of the vehicle.

    Sorry...JACKED the thread.

Your guess is as good as mine. I doubt the woman even knew what a Maverick was.

$1895 in January 1973. They gave me $300 trade-in on my 63 Nova (Chevy II) that I had to actually push on to the lot and only paid $200 for about 6 months before. :bananaman Went for a test drive. My parents in the back seat, salesman up front, me driving. After a quick drive we pulled back into the car lot, I turned off the ignition and the ignition switch with the keys still in it fell on the floor! Came right out of the steering column. We just sat there for a minute staring at the switch/keys laying on the floor, 'cept for my dad who just sat there shaking his head. Shoulda seen the look on the salesman's face! :D

Actually it wasn't a bad deal. The original owner was a kid who went to a local college. He sold it to the car lot when he graduated and went back home. He had already put on 14x6 chrome wheels with F60-14 Polyglas tires, the Shelby taillights, Cobra hood scoop, and pop-open gas cap. To this day the ignition switch and doors locks have a different key pattern. My key has the ign switch pattern on one side and the door lock pattern on the other.

I bought my first Maverick in 1981 it was a 69 1/2 3 speed column 170. My friends who had the muscle cars used to make fun of it until I showed them what a six cylinder 170 could do. I floored the gas and popped the clutch and got an ever so slight split second "erck" and they cheered and my friends then nicknamed the my car the "924 Mav" (after the porsche 924) My friend John had a "Dart 280 Z" (dodge dart). Talk about a grandpa car. I was 15 years old and paid $500. I was t-boned by a 69 GTO about two years later. I bought my second one off of ebay about 3 months ago and am restoring itwith the help of you all on this forum. I paid $755 for it. It is identical in color but is an auto 200 and a 1970.

I just got mine about 2 weeks ago for 1300bucks. 250 i-6, column shifter, puke green interior and a yellowish greenish fadedish exterior. 57,000 original miles and it runs like it was almost brand new. Oh and yeah it has the maverick hubcaps, and the Am radio. Too bad I have to replace the fender but the rest of the car is in good shape, just needs some patch panel work done to it. When shes done.......... yes I will cry.

Since my dad gave it to me, unless you count the costs for replacing the main wiring harness, cap, rotor, plugs and wires (and assorted other minor things destroyed in the fire, like vac lines. Oh, and the carb, too)

The car had a bad carb on it, which spewed fuel up onto the intake manifold, which eventually spilled onto the exhaust manifold, and the rest is history...the engine still looks like **** (I'd have to pull it, steam clean it, and repaint it, ) but the car runs beautifully. AND IT'S GIVEN ME MUCH LESS TROUBLE THAN ANY OTHER RIDE I'VE EVER DRIVEN IN.

So, I'd probably say about $150 in parts for it...body looks good (coupla tiny dents) ,... Interior needs work, but that's a shop job (I can't do it myself, )

Trans has been replaced, thanks to Old Guy's advice (miss that dude. )

She ain't the beauties you guys have, but hopefully, she will be!

Bought my first 72 comet for $500,it was my friends parts car.Well after about a year of starring at it i decided to sell it[good move] And low in behold 7 years later i bought my friends 72 that my first one was the parts car for!! The funny thing is he never did any more to it then when i bought the first one from him. So now i'm going through boxes of parts of 1 1/2 Comets with some parts missing and trying to assemble this mess.It didn't help thet he moved the car to 4 different garages in the 7 years.Oh and i paid $2500.00 for the second one,It has fresh paint 8 point roll cage 9'' rear,he had about $6500.00 invested in it when i bought it. Derek.

I was tired of repairing of my 92 Jeep Wrangler, and I decided to by some older US car. Went to the one of our local forum member(import us cars) and trade Wrangler to the Maverick + he gave me some cash. Maverick is from Florida, 22504 actual miles on it, little rust on the floorpan and in the trunk, hood. I think 4500$. It was two years ago.Below you can see this two years old pictures.
